Bike issue

I'm a biker and often i'm still around when it's dark. I already use a light but sometimes is not enoug so i want to use a REAL flashlight.

So this are the two problem:

- I use thew bike in the wood and there are many holes. Any flashlight can resist to this nonstop stress?

- Can you suggest a good mount for flashlight?

Thanks

What type of batteries do you want to use (AA, 18650...), do you need a very bright light, long runtime???

For most 18650 lights this mount works very well, i use one of these on my oldest bike: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-bicycle-mount-8274 For flashlights with a smaller diameter the Fenix bike mount is very good http://www.dealextreme.com/p/fenix-flashlight-bike-mount-13004 , i have used it for the Ultrafire P10-R5 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire-p10-r5-cree-xr-g-r5-5-mode-350-lumen-memory-led-flashlight-1-18650-42972 . The Ultrafire is smaller than most 18650 flashlights, but it is very bright.

On my new bike i am using the Magicshine http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ssc-p7-2-xp-e-16w-3-mode-1400-lumen-led-bike-light-set-4-18650-included-36018 but the mount is not steady enough for a ride on a bumpy road (in the woods). I would not recommend that light, because i am only using the big led in the middle, the two smaller leds only give a bit of light just in front of the bike. So if you want to buy something like that, don't spend so much money for a light with three leds, one is enough.

I imagine that this is a good way of losing tailcaps and batteries. Thinking of all the tools and spares I've lost when motorcycle electrics were playing up.

I'd reckon an external pack is a good idea.

Thanks everybody for your answer.

I'm thinking about a flashlight with R5 led and 18650 battery. I already have a uf 504b and i would like to use this. I will take a back-up battery but i don't need many hour of light. Just the time to come home if i am in the wood and the sun goes down.

My first need is that the flashlight stay in place all the time, also after many bumps.

Do you think i can damage the led or the flashlight on a bumpy road?

That fenix mount is expensive- and the old version (I think)

The 504B fits very tight in the universal bicycle mount from DX, it is the same size as the Uniquefire L2. I'ts only 1,8 dollar...

The Fenix mount from DX is the old version, i have not used the new one. But for a 504B i would recommend the universal bicycle mount from DX. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-bicycle-mount-8274

Indeed, also a OP reflector for a R5 led is best. Looking at a well defined hotspot is very annoying!

Just making sure... I like SMO better for R5... unless i go cycling. :) Howerver we are not created equal. YMMV...

Thanks again. Really impressive your "light pack" Be-Seen Triker! I think i'ts impossible not to see you even in the darkest night!!

I think i'll try with 504 and DX mount but i also will try to make an helmet light like Be-Seen Triker. In this way i can have twice the runtime or more power if i need it.
