Mini-match gets infinite brightness via QTC

I already did. And am happy to pass them on at cost. I can easily get more in under a week in people want them.

Today's sterling dollar exchange rate is as bad (for sterling users) as I've seen it in years. They cost 18p each and 20 of them will ship for 76p airmail. They are very small and light so 20 of them will weigh less than 2 grammes. I don't think I have 20 uncommitted so I'll order some more (Minimum order works out at 70 of them).

Paypal is fine for payment.

I've just ordered 100 more QTC pills at a cost of $35.16 delivered to me. Up to 30 of them delivered to most of the world will cost $1.25 for postage. I can easily get more if people want them. I'm quite happy to sell them at cost to me.

Prices:

5 delivered: $3.01 plus paypal fee.

10 delivered: $4.77 plus paypal fee.

20 delivered: $8.28 plus paypal fee.

I'll start a new thread with this info in the seller's spot.

Has anyone tried one of these in a Fenix E01? I know it has a spring, but it would be great to dim one of these.

Trying it now.

Doesn't seem to work - it still just goes on or off - this may be poor placement of the pill or the boost circuit working harder. I just placed the pill on the head's + contact and screwed the body and cell down onto it. If I can think of a better way, I'll try it.

Probably the circuitry boosting the cell up-the E01 is a cell vampire.

My thought too. I'll need to improvise a better mounting though and try it more thoroughly later. My E01 gets a new cell every year or so whether it needs it or not - just don't want them leaking in the light.

Yeah, I have had several battery leaks, even from new batteries. Some people just use dead cells in their E01's for the dimmer output.

Thanks for checking/evaluating. Trying to think if I've got any other single modes besides the mini-mag led and Gerber IU. The Gerber has a bunch of fine thread, but I think it has a spring on both sides.

I don't trust dead alkalines not to leak and my E01 has been on my work keys since they were announced - well, since they were announced and the one I pre-ordered arrived. The anodising is holding up pretty well for something like 4 years on a keyring.

I know I'm late to the party as usual, but this has got to be the coolest thing I've seen all month. Way to go, Match! :)

The E01's are pretty much invincible-they've been pretty abused *for the fun* on CPF, some guy tied some to the back of his truck and drove around, then chucked them against a stone wall-just to see. When batteries are stuck though, you're pretty screwed-the light still works, but it don't come out-even with a drill.

Hmm, that reminds me of some really hard torture test I saw on one message board once.

Someone decided to put hundreds of rounds through his Glock, with no lube at all, then drenched it in cement and mud, rinsed it with the garden hose, fired a couple hundred shots more, then dragged it behind a pickup truck on fields and open roads, and even dropped it from an airplane. Stout things, those Glocks. The Austrians really know how to build a handgun (and rifle, in case of the AUG 5.56x45 NATO).

It is pointless, though, when it comes to flashlights. I mean, I have dreamt about dropping my L2 from a 6-story building as well, but I already know what the outcome would be. And I still have to work for money, and even an L2 isn't free.

Instead, my L2 has now been treated to some lathe work for dual O-ring-grooves and will receive a (costly! Man, I must be stoopid...) HAIII treatment. Coulda bought a L2P in the first place, but that wouldn't be the same, or am I wrong? Jeez, pride... one day, it'll kill me...

I guess its the "standard" SHTF light, in emergency kits, for CPF.

Not sure what I was thinking with the E01, it has to be completely tightened to complete the negative side of the circuit. Guess it could dim a little if the spring gave enough, but wouldn't have any adjustablity.

Tried it with my TiKey as well - which uses 3 LR44 cells. All I succeeded in doing was to lose one of the cells. :(

I think the springs in both have too much give in them for the QTC to work well. I've not yet tried it in my ITP A3.

Thrunite TiKey? Damn, thats some history right there....The iTP's have too much give too, probably.

can you show how you implemented the QTC pill , it is frankly blowing my mind

any pics , lol anything : )

I would also like to know how you placed the QTC pill. I just did the mini match mod with my single mode R5 and driver good to 18v so the 14500's are in there. I think as Don has said, the springs have too much give to squeeze tight enough on the QTC.

Where did you place the QTC match? Thanks for all of these awesome ideas and DIY's :D

Just a heads up for people paying with paypal. If you click the "gift" tab on the make a payment screen there is no fee!

I believe that the rules have changed and you must now link your bank account to paypal to enjoy the gift option without a fee. Mine remains linked to my credit card, which has protected me against the paypal theifs that tried to deny a transaction in access of $1k. For the most part paypal is not a protective financial instrument against fraud unless purchased on ebay, and then it has MANY stipulations. In polite terms, paypal is a complete F'n scam if you aske me.
