[05-FEB-2013] How to deal with trolls

Hell fire Gords, I’m not having you around here mate, sounds like you would wreck the place! Hope you’re ok though and your kids.

What people don’t understand is because it is so nice in this little corner of England, that we have no choice but to pretend to be happy

Marc.

Wow gords.. hope you have learnt something. :P

It’ll be right sb, blf has been a lifeline the last few days though I can tell you, so once again, cheers for running the place, it really is appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Gords. I hope things get better around your household. Thanks for all your contributions to the forum.

It’s funny in hindsight, no really bad injuries, just inconvenient. Marcl’s right though, when you have round abouts on roads, weather that can change from sunshine to horizontal snow in the space of an hour, mp’s who think nothing of running a campaign on benefit cheats just as a huge scandal on mp expenses breaks, you really do have to develop the kind of sense of humour that let’s you find filling someone’s overalls with acetylene and lighting it with the owner still in them the utmost of comedy.

I’m normally fairly good at separating personal annoyances with public-facing attitude and treatment of others, but I seriously wonder if I could manage to make polite and upbeat replies here like you’ve been doing. Cheers back at you sir!

No worries, we have a saying here, don’t crap on your own doorstep. It’s surprising how apt it is in life. And how well life really is if you apply it.

Gords, you’ll pull thru! Hope this dun sound bizarre, but esp for those snowed out days, u may want to consider picking up some suturing skills. I learnt it during a combat medic stint . It’s saved my skin and a couple of others literally plus tons of quid. Here’s a pic of a survival kit that can be had at your local PX. What they dun show is the Xylocaine/Lignocaine anaesthetic gel to numb the wound and antiseptic to sanitize the area/tools bf patching up.

Cheers Orion, do they do a follow up kit “how to stitch up your mates”?

Trolls suppose to be afraid of flash lights. Wondering why they keep showing up here. I am well prepared with my lights and batteries. Let’s hunt them!

Heck, you think that’s bad…

Never mind. Wink

Glad to hear you all are still alive after that week!

I'm usually suckered into trolls about every time. Never could keep my mouth shut in real life or here. Never will change. I always consider it an opportunity to.... Well...... Sealed

I was wondering if there is an Ignore feature in the forum software, and if so, could it be implemented?

Well, I haven’t discarded the possibility of implementing an ignore button. But in the case of trolls, they shouldn’t be ignored. They should be deleted, so nobody sees them.

Forget the trolls for a minute and lets tell Gords1001 about super glue. I’ve glued up two cuts that could have used stitches and have no scars from the experience. Misses took one kid to the urgent care with a splinter under the finger nail that I was forbidden to remove. Tweezers and 50 dollars later we left, she didn’t say a word the whole way back. I am allowed to do all the medical procedures I want on myself and a limited amount on the dogs but she has all say on the kids with the limited exception to splinters now.

I was pretty sure there was an ignoe button when I first started. Since I often ignore or muted some tinhat cult followers & thread hijackers.

Gees gords. Whats a guy say. You clumsy bugger, or its about time you had took responsibility over the household. Or did you feel like you had to fall down the steps as the poor sick Mrs gords wasn't paying Mr gords enough attention? No a guy doesn't say any off those things. He says yes were all lucky we have BLF when things aren't going right. Yep as others have said thanks sb and I hope the gords family is safely and sickness free soon and Mr gords can go back to work. All the best, cheers mate.

You should specify cyano acetate  Mrs gords wouldn’t let me glue James together myself, she felt the NHS was a better bet.

I honestly don’t know how I slipped on the stairs, usually I’m like a cross between a ghost and a ninja  that night I was like a drunk baby elephant in a China shop….

Thanks for the well wishes guys, and the very kind offer I recieved on pm, I’m still thinking on that. Mrs gords reports she is feeling better, and James and Luke stopped at their nans last night, so I got a reasonable nights sleep.

Aren’t trolls known to derail threads for their own ends?

Hey Gords, as soon as it stops snowing, you should buy a lottery ticket. Your luck has got to change.

Back on topic, the solution to troll is just as SB says. Don’t feed them. As an alternative, you should read my threads and feed my ego by lying about how interesting you find them. After that, you’ll want to take strong drink and a nap to forget the pain. Problem solved. Troll shrivels and the Duck gets a nice fat liver. Fois Gras anyone?

You can still be served, just not sold in california (if i understand the law correctly)

That suggestion puts me in stitches! The kit for mates packs a bottle of Bundy (rum) or Stoli (vodka) and a stick to chomp on! My fav case of grog saving the day is this :
