[05-FEB-2013] How to deal with trolls

Forget the trolls for a minute and lets tell Gords1001 about super glue. I’ve glued up two cuts that could have used stitches and have no scars from the experience. Misses took one kid to the urgent care with a splinter under the finger nail that I was forbidden to remove. Tweezers and 50 dollars later we left, she didn’t say a word the whole way back. I am allowed to do all the medical procedures I want on myself and a limited amount on the dogs but she has all say on the kids with the limited exception to splinters now.

I was pretty sure there was an ignoe button when I first started. Since I often ignore or muted some tinhat cult followers & thread hijackers.

Gees gords. Whats a guy say. You clumsy bugger, or its about time you had took responsibility over the household. Or did you feel like you had to fall down the steps as the poor sick Mrs gords wasn't paying Mr gords enough attention? No a guy doesn't say any off those things. He says yes were all lucky we have BLF when things aren't going right. Yep as others have said thanks sb and I hope the gords family is safely and sickness free soon and Mr gords can go back to work. All the best, cheers mate.

You should specify cyano acetate  Mrs gords wouldn’t let me glue James together myself, she felt the NHS was a better bet.

I honestly don’t know how I slipped on the stairs, usually I’m like a cross between a ghost and a ninja  that night I was like a drunk baby elephant in a China shop….

Thanks for the well wishes guys, and the very kind offer I recieved on pm, I’m still thinking on that. Mrs gords reports she is feeling better, and James and Luke stopped at their nans last night, so I got a reasonable nights sleep.

Aren’t trolls known to derail threads for their own ends?

Hey Gords, as soon as it stops snowing, you should buy a lottery ticket. Your luck has got to change.

Back on topic, the solution to troll is just as SB says. Don’t feed them. As an alternative, you should read my threads and feed my ego by lying about how interesting you find them. After that, you’ll want to take strong drink and a nap to forget the pain. Problem solved. Troll shrivels and the Duck gets a nice fat liver. Fois Gras anyone?

You can still be served, just not sold in california (if i understand the law correctly)

That suggestion puts me in stitches! The kit for mates packs a bottle of Bundy (rum) or Stoli (vodka) and a stick to chomp on! My fav case of grog saving the day is this :

I really wish I knew how to stitch, I cut myself all the time. And it’s ALWAYS on a knuckle! So superglue or liquid bandaid doesn’t work well in those situations, and they just kind of look wierd.

Sintro, just a quick one as not all wounds suit stitches. They serve 2 basic purposes : 1)Reduce scars. 2)Close a wound to promote healing and discourage infection. #1 is for areas where scars would be prominent and would is deep enough to see yellow fatty tissue under the skin (subcutaneous tissue). #2 is for lacerations, punctures, and incisions. But avulsions that still have a flap of skin attached may also be stitchable. Complete avulsions and abrasions are not suitable, but still need a doctor’s attention if serious enough. To know whether stitches are needed, look at 3 things: 1)Depth of wound enough to see the subcutaneous tissue? 2)Width enough for wound to be pulled closed easily? But if wound is gaping and can’t be easily pinched closed, t may still need stitches to hold it closed long enough to heal correctly. 3)Location of wounds on body areas that stretch/move a lot will need stitches more often than those on areas that do not move as much. Eg. forearm wound will not move as much as a calf wound, so it would not really need stitching. There are wounds/victims that need a doc: 1)Diabetic victims. 2)Animal /human bites (open wounds). 3)Dirt that can’t come out of the wound. 4)Can’t close the edges of the wound. 5) Uncontrolled bleeding to call 911. Final question is duration since last tetanus shot as it’s not effective after 5 years. If so pls see a doc to get wound analysed bf stitching. Ultimately, if in doubt, docs know best!

First, Full Disclosure: I like all you people, even the ones “you people” don’t like. I have made it Quite Clear that “free speech” is one of those “principles” to which I adhere quite diligently, even if that free speech “offends” me.

BUT!!

This is turning out to be TOO FUNNY to ignore:

I’m sure many here don’t explore the Internet as much as some of us do, so please try to understand…

In the context of THIS THREAD, Gords1001 just deftly, adroitly trolled the lot of you. Us, now.

Good onya, Gords!!!
(Remember: if Hitler’s words had been widely available, it’s likely the honorable people of Germany would never have followed him into WWII. Those who start by burning books (banning words), will end by burning (banning) MEN.)

BUT it’s not my chat room, so I follow the rules. Unless this post violates the rules. Looks like it’s “Double Secret Probation” time for Dimbo!

But I MUST ASK YOU ALL: Why is it so hard to just scroll down to the next post? (I mean BESIDES the monstrous ‘quote’ blocks and giant ‘250+%’ pictures, which are worse than trolls IMNERHO) Those of us who have been “online” since before the WWWeb seem to have less of a problem with that, than newly-logged-on people who seem to think there’s some kind of “reality” here. Just sayin’. Hoping this won’t get me banned.

Edit: +1 for an [Ignore] button! Can we get some “[Ignore {Post || User || Thread}]” kind of logic if it’s not too much to ask?

0:) I have to say it was entirely unintended, I only realised after the fact. Sorry 0:)

Often a reply leads to a next post.

I like it all .You live and die on your word ..only you are responsible for the stupid thing you said or did I say leave it all up and let the chips fall where they may .I like the no moderation of blf so yeah I'm spoiled and any moderation beyond that which we oppose upon ourselves feels like too much.

I'm not sure i ever really have gotten a grasp on what a troll really is.Seems it can always be tossed out at almost anyone ..

Where's my bridge ?

+1

troll....

There are trolls, and guys with sticks. It takes both to send a thread off the deep end. SB is right, don’t be either. To me a troll is someone who intentionally posts something inflammatory in order to get a reaction and then uses that response as a springboard for further comments. The subject matter is almost immaterial as it is the attention and strife that they crave. Just being irritating should not be enough to qualify one as a troll. It is the repeated disagreement, not allowing other points of view,” why is everyone picking on me” attitude that sends up the red flag for me.

good point

-intentionally posts something inflammatory in order to get a reaction.

-The subject matter is almost immaterial as it is the attention and strife that they crave.

anyone wanna buy a bridge ?

Wanna to buy some Arizona beach front property?

It's cheap!

It’s cheap because of Kelly Marie Dreller aka Greta.

How about a bridge and some laptop pulls ..i have 6 purple panasonics .And the bridge has only been slept under a couple times ...

:( Why did I trade those Solarforces to Foy for that damn bridge ...

so are write your will at home kits, doesn’t make them legal, or should i say legally binding
