What you got today

Thanks for the help, brted. Will PM Jim right now ;)

It is very difficult to compare them with a flashlight, because the beam is much wider, and the color is much warmer (yellow). I think they have just painted the domes over the leds with some kind of yellow paint. I would like to see some led-lamps with the same Cree leds we use in the better flashlights, they have a much better color reproduction than the very cheap yellow leds the are putting in the led-spotlamps. XM-L's would be very nice, but those lamps would be more expensive...

The DX XM-L 5-mode drop in is much brighter, and it is also about 5W on high. We should be building our own led lamps to use at home...

Today must be my lucky day.

First I found out that I won the Boaz lottery...

When I got home there were 3 little tan envelopes in the mailbox (two has drop-in in them, one had a Skyline body and an Ultrafire 504 body.

PLUS there was a USPS note that I have to go to the Post Office to get another that needs a signature.

Glad the Mrs. was working when all that stuff came!

*edit* the package at the Post Office turned out to be 4x 18650 2600mA Hi-Max batteries...all because of another good review.

trooplewis is having a lucky day!

Yay 2 new envelopes today, still double fun!... I cant rememebr what one of them contains... like Totally cant.

Well heres the opening of one of them, really cute packaging! Except for the fact that that string is actually all thats holding it in!!!

Single AA torch for scale only. Clip is not for this torch.

Apparently the other one is a motherboard ATX connector adapter for the 12V line, which I was meant to use for the power cable, but it came with an interesting little red string ornament (seen in above pictures) and a A5 paper typed up saying thanks for the order, we hoped it arrived in time, please give 5 stars on ebay or let us know, etc... Not bad for a $1 item, with free shipping!!

I got a package from Manafont and one from DX yesterday.

Manafont took only 10 days from ordering. The first thing was(supposed to be) this battery http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/tailtip-2400mah-37v-18650-cell-p-1195 The battery I got has 2200mah printed on the side. It also says on manafont that this battery has over draining protection @ 2.75v. It came @ 1.70v. I have not tried to charge it yet but Im not expecting much. Dont like that it is not the battery I ordered either. I got another 3 mode xm-l dropin. This holster http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/nextorch-nylon-nolt2113-flashlight-holster-p-5716 this is the third one I have. I love them for 18650 sized lights. The last thing in the package was this laser http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/5mw-purple-laser-pen-pocket-clip-2aaa-p-6024 Its pretty cool. It doesnt make a point, it has a little pattern like a dot with a bunch of smaller dots around it like a halo. The purple color seems to have some strange properties that change depending on what it is on.

DX This one had only this light in it http://www.dealextreme.com/p/uniquefire-g10-cree-xp-e-r5-1-mode-350-lumen-white-led-flashlight-with-strap-1-14500-1-aa-55244 I can verify that the single mode G10 can take 14500 batteries. It gets hot pretty quick but it is nice and bright and has, by far, the nicest beam of all my lights. This light really needs a clip though. This light is also my first *****fire light. So I got that under my belt. This one took 19 days from order.

What torch is that?

Torch is a Nitecore D10, Fav EDC :). The AA version of the light Boaz has too many of.. the Nitecore EX10.

The clip is for an EX11, the newer body of the EX10.

I received an Exduct order today. It seems shipping from various Hong Kong vendors has been pretty fast lately. 12 days from order.
I got a Sanrenmu 909 and a Ganzo G704. These are great knives. Nice and big, super sharp. The 909 is mine and the Ganzo is my sons. Time to retire my Leatherman from EDC duty, I’m carrying the 909.

I got mine from them a few days ago and I'm quite happy with it too. It opens very easily and I think the green G10 is very attractive. Today I got the 962 I bought off eBay - just before they appeared at DB for half the price I paid. But it's a nice knife and I don't mind too much. My first with a 'spidey' hole. I think I may get a few more of the 900 series before they become hard to find.

Got 2 packages from Manafont: A Palight C8 with an XP-G R5 emitter in it, and an Ultrafire U 20 with the same emitter in it.

Hopefully the U20 can run 14500's.

Well, I just ordered one of these . . .

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/cree-mce-led-3mode-memory-led-dropin-module-p-5517

. . . and 2 of these.

I want to gain some experience with other emitters. I was surprised at how few low voltage XR-E drop-ins I was able to find. (in the 10 minutes I was willing to invest looking)

So, what I think I've got on the way is:

U2 from Kaidomain

T6 from Manafont

MCE from Manafont

XR-E from Manafont (x2)

Nothing today!

The other day my postie (on a bike) drove up to my door (I have a driveway and path that goes right to my front door) and handed me a package. Bummer it wasn't my missing order from manafont but it was an xm-l drop in!

Foy, agree, XR-E's are getting hard to find. Ebay has a few and so does solarforce-sales.

All there seems to be is 8 volt, 18 volt, etc. These 4.2 babies from Manafont look promsing.

A package!

5x Ultrafire pressure switch

and

10x Switch replacement for flashlights rated 1.5A and 250V. Cannot check the manufacturer specs for unknown reasons Model 101. All seems ok and good soldering was involved.

I really like the pressure switches from MF!

the u20s run noticeably brighter on 14500s

Hey Foy,

ive had those in my cart and the R2s also. let us know how you like em.

Never tried an R2, I've got a few R5s in different configurations.

Today I got a reminder that I should think first and act second. I took my L2X extended which I also got today (review will follow) and dropped in a 18650 battery. Only to find out I put my only drop-in (also today) in to my today-received L2. So, as a result a cracking sound followed, as I found out that without a drop-in, a 18650 will fit through the entire host all the way to the lens...

Couple of vittuperkele's (pretty extreme cursing in Finnish) later I headed to the now-too-familiar solarforce-sales to order some premium lenses.

I had to Google translate vittuperkele. Although I have heard and said and read the English equivalent so many times that it doesn't faze me, I just hope there are no impressionable Finnish kids on the forum.

Spoiler alert:

In his first novel, Stephen King eloquently calls it the Eff Word.

I've done that with 1x18650 hosts but I don't think the shorter length gave quite enough time for the battery to reach a speed that would break the lens. I've bought a bunch of AR coated lenses from KD, so I have a lot of the original lenses as extras now.
