My current project chopped AA,AAA, and Solitaire. All done with pics :) beamsh*ts in last post

And the little one said, what about me? Looking good.

That is a nice looking set of lights

Nice work Rufus! I like'em all!

Dan.

I’m home again tonight so I should get to put in some work on them and add a few pics. Cindy went in for heart ablation surgery today but the word is it went well and she will be back at her home tomorrow. I work nearer to her house than to mine which is why I’m there so much.

I'm sorry to hear not that I know who Cindy is. I hope she is well soon. She is far more important than any lights. Cheers.

In this forum there are true geniuses. I am delighted to see such wonderful creations.I love that Solitaire.
Thank you.

Dad was having afibs sp?….and he had that done hardly has them at all now and he was glad he did it.

Thanks guys, she is doing well now and I’ll be going home again. I was able to bore out the heads but no pics yet. Will do that ASAP tonight.

Bumped for new stuff.

Its all coming together nicely. An early thanks as I'm sending all my stars over for you to tin where the led sits. Looks really good.

I cheated. Blobbed it on and filed off the excess. That’s when the silkscreen went bye bye.

Is cutter out to lunch. I went to reflow the LEDs and two of the three sets we’re wrong and they haven’t responded to my email. Ordered XML T6 3D and XP-G2 R53D and got 3C tints on both. Actually, I got the XP’s in 3C, the XML’s were E3, which is a grab bag of 3A-3D. The confirmation email had all the correct tints and they didn’t contact me about the change. I only ordered from them for the tints. They’re too pricey. Aargh. Ordered more xp 3D’s from Craig but not sure what to do about the C$&@#% order. Once before they took their sweet time about responding when they sent me some quad boards with the LEDs loaded backwards.

Next to last bump!

When they get assembled, I’ll post beam shots of all three lights. Been using the solitaire a bit(just testing ya know); what a lovely size! Horrible run time but wow, that much light from 53mm is too cool.

Last bump. Beam shots tomorrow.

Delay, delay. No time then rain. Finally got out last night for some iPhone beam shots. First is flash only, second is chopped Solitaire(Nichia 219 @ 350mA), third is chopped AAA mini(XP-G2 R5 3D @ 1.04A), and fourth is chopped AA mini(XML T6 3C @ 1.7A). All on high.

I like how snug the hsps turned out. I have to use the battery tube to press them out of the heads.

For some reason the chopped AAA impresses me the most.

Nicely done all around !

Hi Mr Rufus. May I ask questions without death threats pointed at me? If so, Are the last two shots what you actually see or is the last one not showing the extra spread of light from the XM-L. The reason I ask that any small light that I have built that has been driven at these levels the XP-G always looks better than the XM-L.

Dont feel that you have to answer this question if you feel I'm threatening you at all. I'm curious and trying to keep the piece.

What are you using 14650 batteries for?

MRsDNF, that was intended as a joke. I think the beams end up similar because the optic for the xpg is smaller (only 16 mm) and hence cannot focus as tight as the larger 20mm optic used for the XML. The larger die cancels out the smaller optic. I prefer a smooth floodier beam than some so that’s what I made. I would make a square die thrower if someone wanted one but it would most likely require the additional depth available in the AA led mag and I’m too cheap to buy one. I have some ideas around that but no divulging secrets today. 20 mm depth is about the limit on boring the Incan AA which doesn’t leave enough room for the pill and to focus the beam. 14650 is the size cell I use in my version of the micromag. And now you must die!(or sign a no disclosure contract).

Thanks CX, each light is special but that one is extra. Maybe due to your contribution?
