What does "1-mode memory" mean?

Hi,

I’ve seen a couple of reference to “1-mode memory”, e.g.:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1605/10000508/1067701-ultrafire-xm-l-t6-700lm-white-light-led-1-mode-mem

and, kind of, here:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/uniquefire-uf2100-t6-1mode-memory-led-flashlight-18650-p-6925?rp=522815

If these only have 1 mode, then what does “memory” mean/imply (i.e., since there’s only 1 mode, what is there to memorize?)?

Thanks,
Jim

It means “high”, no other modes.

Well it does come on at the previously used mode. Doesn’t that technically fit the definition of mode memory?

KuoH

It needs to remember to come back on after you switched it off

Sort of OT maybe, but I'm really coming to despise mode memory. If you have a pile of lights, and grab one, it's like a lottery as to what mode you're gonna get. At least, that's how it works out if the light's memory is better than yours. :p

Forgot what i was going to post ,ahh yes
+1

Example: one mode memory is like Jakey.

Nice one

Umm.

I appreciate the humor… really… but it was a serious (well, not THAT serious) question/inquity.

So was this something like an “oxymoron”, i.e., the term/description doesn’t make any sense?

I just was checking because I was wondering if there was some technical concept that I was missing (please… no jokes on that, I know I left myself WIDE open on that one :)!)…

Thanks,
Jim

Nah. It was a good question to ask. They were just trying to sell it with fancied up wording. “Single mode” would have been more appropriate language.

It's like a classified ad I saw many years ago, for something total crap like a base trim '83 Escort or something. In the features, they listed - swear on a stack of bibles - see-thru windows and rechargeable battery.

I thought those were special edition models :_(

I saw bottled water on a Chinese site that said “diet water” “no calories”.

Hi,

Ok, thanks for the “sanity check” [AGAIN… left myself open :(!!]

Jim

One mode memory, that is what I have, what? Just remember, children when you leave the room, be sure you turn-on the dark…a flashaholic never turns out the light…

Oldie but goodie: YouTube

(And if that link is screwy, search 1988 dodge Aries for sale on youtube)

That’s a good argument for only having 1-2 EDC lights…
