Fasttech - interesting new products - Flashlights, chargers, batteries and DIY and knives - please no discussions.

They can’t all stop working!

Course they can. Buy it - you know you want to.

FT finally carrying a Convoy EDC w/clip . The S4 is a decent looking 18650 light…but what do you think about the way the clip mounts to the ring surrounding the switch…wonder if it will hold up? Seems like it might eventually cause stress fractures along that thin rail and shear off. Nevertheless I’m happy they are getting Convoys w/clips in.

FT listed a lot of new products for flashies :)

A Convoy S4 host and many Convoy S4 with XM-L with different binnings (T4-7C, T5-5C, T6-3C, T6-4C, or U2-1B) and 4/6/8 x 7135 (similar to the Roche F12 a few days ago). One with a XP-G R5-1A, too. Price range: $21-$26 Link, only the host $15,17 - save 5% with coupon BLF. You can use one link and choose any model with the drop-down menu - non aff-link

Also some Olight M20 filters (blue - red - green) and a diffusor. Each for $6,71, diffusor $5,02.

And the listed some XP-G2 LEDs on 14, 16 and 20mm base (XPGBWT XP-G2 R5-1A 472-Lumen 6500-7000K LED Emitter).
A little bit confusing is the information: Input Type DC 2.8-3.15V. Couldn't I use it with the Nanjg 105C?

FT listed price: $2,86-2,87 Link - non aff-link

I’m getting to the point where I don’t have to keep telling myself that. Most lights don’t look very interesting any more because very few have anything sufficiently new or different compared to what I already have.

The only types I don’t have yet (and might want) are a high-CRI light (L10?), a pencil-beam aspheric thrower (ZY-C10-S), and a custom or BLF-edition light. Oh, and a true strobe light, but I just have to re-flash one of my Convoy S3s for that.

I’ve mostly moved on to upgrading other parts of my EDC, like a nice rainbow titanium nitride Fisher Space Bullet pen with purple ink and a little notebook, a keychain diamond-coated file, tritium and regular GitD keyfobs, an S-biner-based keychain, a Leatherman Juice S2 compact multitool, a TPU case for my phone, a new purse, lip balms, etc.

However, I got a bunch of great little stuff from FastTech today, like USB cables and adapters and stuff. I’ve also gotten some nice steampunk necklaces there, a Valentine’s gag gift (solar-powered cockroaches), a bike-themed knife for my friend, and other random stuff. And I’ll probably be getting some Android mini-PCs and a tablet soonish, of which they have a very nice selection.

Are all the Convoys reverse clicky? I generally like them, but the reverse click is a dealbreaker for me.

Sunwayman Mirage for under $80!!! I wanted this light since it was released and ordered it few weeks ago from Ebay. I got it for $105 what I thought then as a fair price. I just never expected FT to have them so cheap, considering the limited status and all. Had I only waited for a couple weeks more… :_(
Obviously I am the only person really liking this one!

I do need it then, because I don’t have one with the variable control ring. >.< I also want need a high-CRI light but in AAA package. The L10 was tempting, in pink especially, but the Preon has spoiled me.

To be fair, although the RRT01 is a very nice light, I’ve only had it for a day and I’m already reaching for my trusty ZL H51 half the time because it’s inconvenient to use one hand just for holding a light. I also keep having to think about it to remember which way to turn it, since it’s the opposite direction from traditional twisties. The RRT01 is the best I’ve found for sublumen modes though, given that over a third of its range is dedicated to 0.005 to 2 lumens.

I’d probably put the RRT01 in my top four recommendations for a small EDC though, after the ZL H51, ZL SC52, and pretty much any decent 1xAAA keychain light.

Thanks, Toykeeper. That really helps. Its the low lumen variability that interests me the most. I do wonder how it compares to having well spaced low modes, like on your Zebralight.

Well, the runtime on the RRT01 is a bit sad with a maximum of 4 days (compared to 3 months on the ZL SC52). So, it’s not a great torch to leave on overnight. However, it can smoothly and easily adjust to any level. And by “any level”, I mean it turns on with an output that is so dim I can barely see it if I hold it millimeters away from my eyeball in a pitch-black room with well-adjusted night vision… and then it goes up smoothly from there, though the granularity gets less fine near the high end. A fair amount of its range is dimmer than a tritium vial.

On mine, the control ring seems to rotate about 150 degrees. From 0 to ~40 degrees, it’s off. From ~40 to ~100 degrees, it ramps from 0.005 to 2.7 lumens. From ~100 to 150, it ramps from 2.7 to 500. (I’m using 2.7 because that’s the point where it looks about the same as the SC52 on its 2.7-lumen L1 mode) So, that’s about 50 or 60 degrees worth of low modes, and another 50 for medium, high, and turbo. It’s a pity that almost a third of its range is just “off” though.

My main gripes about the SC52 are that it lacks a mode between 0.34 and 2.7 lumens (0.9 would be nice), and that it’s a major pain to switch between sub-lumen modes (requires 16 clicks to go from 0.01lm to 0.06, or 18 clicks to go from 0.06 to 0.34). So I generally just leave it configured for 0.06lm (dim night light level), and reach for my H51 at 0.18lm when I want a brighter mode.

The RRT01 does away with all that nonsense and lets you set it to whatever level you like in a fraction of a second.

I have one on the way. Not that enamoured with the colour, tbh, but I wanted the AA extender, and for a few dollars more, probably worth it. Like you I was amazed Fast tech has it at all, never mind at such a good price.

They do sell a AA extender on it’s own - http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10004131/1306300-sunwayman-ap-05-aa-extender-for-m10r-m11r-v10r-

Yeah, I saw that, thanks. I just figured that I might as well spend an extra few dollars for the ‘limited edition’ version - if I don’t like it I should be able to sell it easily enough.

FastTech continues to offer more battery choices including LG batteries!

It looks like they carry copper for xml now.

I have to wonder if they are like the sink pad, or are just like normal stars but in copper. Might have to buy a couple and find out.

lol brass base plate

The desription is wrong at the moment - FT wrote brass. The price is great.

$1,22 for the 16mm, and $1,25 for the 20mm - non aff-link

About the LG 3000 mAh and Samsung 3000mAh listed yesterday: You need a charger with 4,3 / 4,35V.

 nice to see some wltoys stuff appearing and at good prices, hope they add the v912 / v913 / v922 and spares soon though

thoroughly recommend the v911 and v202 great fun to fly and very durable and nothing to stop you adding a few LEDs onto them
