My exercise amounts to working in the garage or sitting. I used to walk about an hour a day, but since my wife is home bound, I don't go out any more. That doesn't bother me, as I was always totally lazy when it came to exercise anyhow.
Iāve shot (pics, photographer) at some of my cousinās track meets and it can be fairly brutal just carrying camera gear around all day. All the standing, squatting (for angles) and hustling from one event to another. If I did that more often it would be a help. My cousin is a track star. Just turned 18 and has 3 Gold Medals in the National Junior Olympics Decathlon, starting when he was 14. This weekend in a High School Regional track meet, he had 11 more points by himself than one of the other High School TEAMS! The only event he was in that he didnāt win outright was the discus. He won the 110M Hurdles after connecting solidly with hurdle no. 8 and going to a kneeā¦.he fell and still won! He anchored the 4x400 (1600m Relays) and the team won by 3 seconds with a 3:18:95. They have a 400 runner that is about his equal, Wolf leaned at the line and beat him by .03 seconds at 48.29ā¦then crashed! He told the paper that it was ābeautiful! Thatās what itās all about in team sports, being able to push each other to get your best possible permormances.ā This kid is not only fast, heās tough. Last summer in the National Junior Olympics he was pole vaulting and his pole broke about 14ā off the ground. That piece snapped up out of the chute and crashed him right in the crotch so viciously he was throwing up for 20 minutes! He finished the pole vault with a 2nd place, threw the javelin for 1st then ran the 1500m with a 230m lead at the end.
If I could just stay in camera range of this kid Iād be in good enough shape!
Thanks for reading! Appreciate it, as it took me a while to type it
What a tough guy! And he has the perfect attitude for the sport. He ought to have a blast in collegeāon and off the track. I didnāt have time for frats and partying like the other college kids, but I didnāt mind because A: there was a ton of work to do for classes, and B: when I wasnāt doing school work I would hang out with my T&F buds (on the track, in the WR, fieldhouse, cafeterias, shenanigans around Beantown, you name it). After Outdoor was over in June, we even got around to a little partying! We were truly blessed to live a life of schoolwork, working out, eating, sleeping and competing  0:)
I, uh, get up, let the cats, out feed, them, scratch my backside, have a wash, feed mysels, put a finger up to the wind, determine if itās going to rain or be howling wet, and dress accordingly. If itās howling wet I dress appropriately for breakfast, and have a workout consistiing of fried bread, beans, eggs not over-easy, black pudding, chips, beans, more chips, more beans an chips an beans.
If itās a decent day Iāll pull on my cycling gear and take a wander off out.
Thatās it for the day - such a day happens every so often.
Iām fit as a flea, me.
Bicycling to and from work, daily year āround; except maybe 10 days a year, when itās just too rainy/windy. And 75+ push ups a day. Thatās about it; should be more of a regimen thoughā¦
āIf we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.ā
i usually grab a random training routine from youtube to try outā¦could be with or without weightsā¦cuz its kind of boring to keep following the same old thingā¦.other than that is mostly cycling for me
I go to the climbing gym several times a week, climb outside weather permitting (which is very seasonal around here) otherwise itās hiking (in the mountains) and walking around a nearby in town lake.
Day 1: Chest. Overhead press a few sets, no warm up weights or ramping. Switch to bench, work up to training weight, then do sets of 8 over and over again until I feel like stopping. Do front, lateral and rear raise drop sets.
Day 2: Pulls. Pull ups, sometimes with extra weight, and keep doing sets until my injured elbow starts to hurt. Switch to single arm barbell rows. Work up to training weight and keep doing sets at that weight until I feel like stopping. Do shrugs with whatever weight my elbow feels okay with. Switch to curls. Once a week I'll do drop sets, and the other workout that week will just be a couple sets at training weight. Switch to forearm work using weighted engineers hammer, super gripper and a dumbbell.
Day 3: Leg curls, extensions and calf raises.
Most days I'll do a couple sets of curls, HIIT and a couple sets of overhead press. A couple times a week I'll do ab work and spend the time between sets using a foam roller and tennis ball.
This program is geared towards putting on muscle mass and keeping my metabolism high. The tape measure says it's working incredibly well.
before moving in with toni and having the kids, I had a rigorous training regime that resulted in an impressive right armā¦ā¦ now I keep fit by dint of not being able to afford fatty food and chasing a pair of insane toddlers.
I dug up this old thread of mine because there are a lot of new members since I posted it .
So how do you keep fit ?
I lift weights twice a week , run stadiums ( stairs ) , and bike .
I also play at least 18 holes of disc golf every weekend .
Actually the exact same routine Iāve had for 20 years .
