Decent cardboard box, with bright colors, high-quality black holster, 2 spare orings and lanyard.
Holster fits perfectly with the flashlight, like a glove.
Here is more detail the Lanyard which is placed in the thread which is also compatible with Standard UNC1 / 4’–20 Camera, originally was afraid of this design rear if easily lost screw Lanyard and dirt that could accumulate if I remove the lanyard. But the piece of thread seems firm and it’ll hold well, and if removed, the hole is not deep and in the background, looks good sealed in black anodized aluminum, if dirt gets into, gets into water and cleans easily.
As EDC is a perfect size, but weighs 67 gr (for me is not a problem). Very comfortable to carry in hand.
Let’s see it in parts. The mechanized is very good and excellent anodizing, body thickness is generous (quality and quality).
Physical protection against reversed battery placement, structure in the head to increase the area of heat dissipation.
Here we see the low voltage indicator does not work with NiMH, but is very useful with a “14500”
It has the XM-L U2 perfectly centered with a smooth reflector, which will give us a well-defined center spot, no rings or artifacts of any kind. Quite warm neutral tint, very nice.
Compared with “Neutron 1A Thrunite” differences; texture aluminum reflector / OP in the neutron and less diameter (it’s more flood)
You can use the filters and diffusers of the series “Explorer 25.4 mm” of Nitecore
using filters here are some rings
USER INTERFACE:
Three primary modes
-High 170 lumens
-Medium 30 lumens
-Low 3 lumens
With side switch turns on and off the flashlight with a short press. If you hold down the switch ,modes are alternated High-Medium-Low-H-M-L …. releasing the button when you reach the desired mode. Turns on in the same mode (it has memory, but not for SOS or strobe)
There is direct access to the special modes. Press 2 times faster, and enter Strobo (although the flashlight is off, the strobe is also accessed by double clicking fast). In strobo, another double click to SOS mode.
Lock out;
The flashlight should be more than seven seconds off, press 1 click and maintain a second click (short flashing) the flashlight will be locked. To unlock, do the same.
RUNTIME:
For this flashlight, I tested high mode and medium mode with Eneloop 2400 mA .
The results have been pretty good. The flashlight dissipates heat very well. Good power with NiMH. Great with 14500 (but without excess, 250 lumens is good choice for EDC 14500).
The runtimes that I have measured are similar to the official runtimes. The low mode is 3 lumens, but I think it might be 1 Lumen.
With “14500 battery” improves performance. High 250 lumens (I think perhaps more), I think medium mode of 60-70 lumens , low mode I estimate 7-8 lumens.
Low battery warning (operates only with batteries 14500):
- In high mode - early warning LED blinks occur about 3.7-3.75V .
about 3.65V red LED is almost permanently on.
- Medium (about 60-70 lumens with this battery), in this mode begins blinks approx. to 3.45V in 3.40V is already fixed.
- In Low mode the alarm has been fixed at 3.3V.
I found it very useful.
