Photobucket Alternatives?

+1 Thanks everyone…. Photobucket was on my last nerve…

Then Amazon S3 is unparalleled. They have a free Tier account that may be of interest.

You doing this?

I would want it attached to a domain name so that the images can be moved elsewhere, or Amazon can do that themselves, without breaking the links.

Oh wow, I didn’t know about this. Thank you!

imageshack sucks big time.

I use Razzi, it's fast to load images and a joy to use. Also SB's recommendation of google drive is a good one but it can be a bit daunting to figure out.

I'm going to definitely have a look at Brightmodules. Thanks PilotPTK

I have a paid account with image shack. I have never had any issues with it. I've had it for a couple years now. I have also used google, but soemthing about the google monopoly just irks me.

I use the flickr.
Getting direct image links is a bit of an annoying process, but it hasn't faulted me yet.

I use Flicker and 500px. 500px is pretty awesome and I'm thinking of migrating everything over there. So far, too lazy.

I looked at the ImageShack Rates and terms. Their Premium Basic Plan is $2.00/month for 25GB of storage. It does not allow you to host your images for your website or blog, etc. For that you’d need the ‘Business Subscription’, the cheapest of which is $10.00/month for 100GB of storage.

Amazon S3, which does allow you to host your images any way you want, and does not impose a file size limit, would cost $2.37 cents a month for 25GB. If you had 100GB on AMazon S3 it would be $9.50, so Amazon S3 and the ImageShack Basic Business plan are close in that respect.

However, this is one important consideration for some, with AMazon it is not a monthly set fee, the rates you pay are scaled to the actual amount you store (not a monthly minimum), and you do not have to sign up for a minimum term of 3 or 12 months as you do for ImageShack. For example, if you had 40GB of images stored, then with Amazon it would be $3.80. With the ImageShack plan that does not allow you to host your images, you’d have to sign up for a 6 month term at $3.17/month, or if you did want to be able to host them, it would be a minimum of $10.00/month.

Amazon S3 is also good for backing up data, similar in that respect to Dropbox, etc. There are some good Android Apps that will sync your phone to it. For the extra few pennies per month it’s likely for many the S3 option would better suit their needs and is worthy of consideration.

I use dropbox. I put the pictures in a separate folder in the Public folder, and from there I can share them.

I have used Photobucket for years. But then, a few months ago, Photobucket went downhill fast. So I did a bunch of research on free image-hosting sites that allow hotlinking.

I decided to use Abload.de, and I love Abload! The website is in German, so it isn't for everyone. To translate the site, I use a combination of Google Chrome and Google Translate, and I think it's worth the effort.

This is the shootout that convinced me to use Abload:

http://www.tested.com/tech/photography/3563-the-best-place-to-store-your-jpegs-and-gifs-six-image-hosting-sites-compared/

In the comparison of six image-hosting sites, the clear winner is minus.com, but the article is from 2012 and minus.com is absolutely horrible right now. Abload fairs pretty well in the article and it's a good read, so check it out to see how much better Abload is compared to Photobucket.

I’ve been a Flickr member for 6 or 7 years. I’ve never, ever had a single problem.

Bumping this thread because I can’t get my Google Drive pics working…
Well, if you click on the link you’ll see the picture but they don’t appear directly like Imgur or Flickr pics… :

EDIT for test :

EDIT 2 for test :

OK, nevermind I found the solution

I am done with PhotoBucket, long upload times, site is slow anyway and if you use ABP they will slow it down even further,
Stupid, really stupid
For now I am using Imgur.com

I am done with PhotoBucket, long upload times, site is slow anyway and if you use ABP they will slow it down even further, on PURPOSE!

Photobucket seems to have become impossibly slow. Just trying to upload 1 picture takes 20 minutes and even then doesn’t work half the time.

I think I’ll have to look for an alternative picture hosting website.

Pick one. The lower in the list, the easier (for you>> Meaning, M$ has their hands in everything) things are

Imgur is way better than other alternatives.
There are so many posts with images missing because the hosting site like photobucket or whatever deleted them…

I had imgur and photoflushit for years. You are not immune to losing all your uploaded images at any time. Anything you upload, do not rely on the host to back-up your uploads.

The only images I have ever seen deleted by imgur are from back when they still deleted images after 6 months of 0 views, which was like 2015 or something.
Now they don’t delete anything at all.

Google photos is really reliable too, and pics under 2MB don’t take up google drive space so you can store unlimited amounts.
Never used it myself but I’m sure you can also publicly link your pics by changing the permissions.
