DNF's Entry To OL Comp. 7.7.13 (7.7.13) Done and dusted.

OMG, that Scenery, must be somewhere in Australia? Surprised

I am glad to see you getting things together. Whatever you do, when you take the plastic off early, don't tell those nurses, or you will be back in plastic for another six weeks...

I'm looking forward to the lathe work.

You do want your nails done yes? Maybe it would be more suitable for Mrs cone. Shes doing a face painting course at the moment to expand her horizons.

I agree 100% with your thoughts RaceR except one. Believe it or not (violin starts playing) I’m not bad with hand tools as well. There is more skill in using hand tools than a machine. I’m like you and getting a buzz from the wild to mild.

I kick myself everytime we go there. Theres an extremely large lake which you can only just see. The waters down at the moment. For 20 years we have been trail bike riding, skiing and generally larking around at this property. I learnt along time ago to do what the nurse says. Angry nurses scare me.

srsly, if your plastic friend is holding you back, just deflate her and put her back in the box she came in

looking forward to the build!

First post updated.

Nice to see your tools and workshop, and I am jealous of your empty country. Looking forward to your build. Mine is still waiting to begin, have to finish lots of little jobs in the house before the hobby can resume...

Thank you for taking the time to show us your tools. Don’t know what the doc will say but if that were my plastic friend I’d wear it while working (at least for a while) to protect the new tissue and work on mobility without strain. Range of motion exercises (mild stretching)induce the scar tissue to develope in long more elastic fibers. Overwork causes micro tearing that turns into knots that could ruin the outcome. Please put your recovery first. You only get one shot to do that right. When I wrecked my left hand I was off work for 7 months, 2 surgeries( first to push the bone pieces in the two middle fingers into line and pin them and the second for a bone graft replacement from my hip) plus months of therapy to convince a lot of scar tissue to act like normal flesh. Do whatever they say to get it right and at some point they should be able to tell you to cut loose and really start to work it. 8 months after the accident I went up for my first block attempt(volleyball) and though it hurt, nothing came loose and I was able to really push it again. Best regards and hopes for a good outcome.

Thanks Mr duck. I cringe when you mention your hand. Yeah I’m a bit paranoid but without going into detail I have a freind who received serious injuries on a lathe. Hence the hesitation of using it when I’m not right.
This little old country here is filling up. Just dont ask me with what. Cheers guys.

Nice toys, er, tools. Any chance a link belt would save the trouble of tearing the machine apart? Link belt

(I was using one of these on my drill press, so not exactly your application, but I think it would work at higher speed.)

Thanks ruffles. Yes I do have one ready to go on but . I’ve never used one before so was waiting for the tattered one to start slipping badly or break first.

Finished design added to the OP.

Looking forward to seeing the end product, good luck.

Yeah, and it uses lithium batteries… do you perhaps work for Boeing? J)

Machining has started. Pictures in the OP.

Always love getting to see your work. Best of luck with your build.

The switch ass has been completed. Pictures in the opening post.

Too many Pills…Frown

Oh Noooooooo Mister Bill! Smile

Sounds like you are having too much fun with this build. Good to see you out and doing something.

I’m down one switch on mine. Went to see a man about a horse and gremlins took it. Spent two days looking but no joy. Fortunately I bought two. Looking good, I like the piles of long shavings and the JPL fins.

Sorry OL. I still love Maxwell Smart after too many years. It’s still on here all the time. Maybe thats where the BS comes from. Loopy Lucy with the shifty paws was the culprit.

Sorry about your lost switch mr duck. Its a bugger losing things hence the reference to Mrs dnf. She can usually find things quickly. I recall you losing a lens or reflector not long ago. Did it ever turn up? Maybe there colluding together somewhere in a dark corner about turning you nuts (or nuttier)?

To find small objects on the ground, I put a strong flashlight down on the floor and shine it horizontally around. Even the smallest objects throw long shadows that way :)

Thanks Mr chief, unfortunately it was outside on the grass. Fortunately I did find it.
