I think it isn't bright enough - it only has 18K lumens.
I wonder if this is actually any brighter than a SRK or a BTU shocker?
I wonder how its wired and the driver they used. With a input voltage of less than 16.8v it about have to be a boost driver I would think. With 15 xml’s you can’t get a even array for 4 li-ion’s. Could be either 5p3s buck or 3p5s boost.
I have only a little doubt that it is almost twice as bright with 15 emitters, but if driven correctly, would be about 3 times brighter. It would also produce enough heat to get 210 degrees on the head surface!
It’ll be a super bright short flooder… Distance will suck…
I agree with this statement… once it’s modded. Stock, maybe 3000-3500 lumens. Yes, that’s bright but it has 15 XM-Ls so it would be barely driven at that output.
$6.60 per Led. Looking at it another way you could say that you get 15 XML leds for $98.70 and a bonus host thrown in. Its starting to look good.
I like the looks of this the BEST of all multi xm-l lights. You could severely under drive this for fantastic efficiency and still major output. Sweet.
even if each xm-l was putting out 100lm it would be 1500lumens, easily over 1000 OTF.
This is a great idea for emergency lights and floody lights. To get 100 lumens out of an xml it needs to be just under 250mA. So 250*15 = 3.75amps for a 1500 lumen light which doesn’t heat up. And that’s based on a 1st gen xml t6 which is what this light uses. That’s crazy efficient.
I can imagine it now… an array 20 xmls giving off 180 degrees of 2000 lumen flood while only consuming 5A, and staying cool enough for a child to hold.
I still want someone to make a direct drive 1x26650 version of this light using the 50A continuous battery. 3.33A per LED on copper. 18000 lumens.
