Canāt stand them either. They might be the next best thing since sliced bread but they look tacky.
I still would buy one if I didnāt already have a bunch of multi-emitters. I think this would make a great first buy and I have had really good luck with Fandyfire products. Itās still tempting because of the infinitely variable part. If only it was infinitely more bright. 8)
Really like the color scheme, but I agree the buttons look too tall and probably spongy. Would prefer the low profile electronic switch on my King/UV-S5.
Also agree that the control panel is a little large and looks more proportional to its big brother.
3x18650 size is probably better in hand than my 4x18650 UV-S5. Donāt have a Darth, but I have wanted one.
Mode order sounds like a potential flaw. Not sure about draw/power either. Very curious to see the reviews on this one.
I'm almost afraid to admit to not owning a 3*XML light in this company/forum but at that price things might have to change.
Waiting on another no doubt fine review here from JohnnyMac before making any decision.
It's only an impression based on a photograph, but I personally think the control panel buttons look tall, "plasticy" and toyish.
Does anyone else think the threads appear to be anodised so there may be a twist to lockout? I'd think that would be essential with those bloody great buttons sitting up there.
Agree that it's a shame to see the Strobe in the main cycle rather than hidden. Not the best use of a two-button UI (IMO) but at under $40 it's hard to imagine any of the "get-em-out-there-fast" fast manufacturers being too concerned about niceties like that.
Joining the queue to read about it all in a fortnight or so!
if it's the same as the L3, it has only 2 modes.(non flashy) You can set the first mode as you desire, but that's not a whole lot better than the king imho.
As soon as someone reminds me of the FT discount code, it will be on the way. One good point about this light if someone is trying to keep costs down is it only uses 3 batteries instead of 4. Was showing an uncle some 4 cell lights the other day and informed him of the light price, plus the battery price. Premium batteries cost almost as much as the lights.
At least if I order now, I will get an āoriginalā copy of the original. If it isnāt up to my expectations and someone else comes up with an improvementā¦so be it!
What I canāt stand is getting a fake, of a fake, of a fake. Then I feel cheated, in fact I have very little confidence in any of the older lights. From here on in, nothing but 1st edition fakes for me!
