Hello from England.

Im also a member of cpf......and like you just read what interested me......i do like the new lights that there coming out with but im surely not going to spend 450bones on a Haiku.....nice light but no.

Thanks for the welcome Alfred and Don. I spoken to you a Jay's site Don, but I'm not a prolific forum poster these days. I have, however, read all of your reviews and found them of great help.

I look forward to making at least a small contibution to the forum, some of it may even prove useful.

But then my day job involves standing up and speaking out to groups of people. Or as a guy in my class at college put it, "We get paid to make fools of ourselves in public". I like my gadgets and torches are a whole lot cheaper than cameras or computers. I probably own far more computers than torches, they seem to arrive faster than i can give them away. Don't mistake verbosity for expertise - I'm learning too and since we're all different we look at different things - different features are important to us. So don't be shy, we do want to hear what you think. Even if, when I was a teacher, my job was to tell them why everything they thought was wrong. Or at least that's what it felt like on the bad days. I hated being a teacher.

Hi Stan

welcome good to see you post

seen your name as new member for a few day i like you don't post a lot although this site seems to be a exception

Barrie

Hey there Stan, a pleasure to have you onboard! Thanks for the encouragement, I'm glad this site is useful to someone. Post all you want or as little as you want, there's a lot to talk about.... ;-)

Cheers gents, I'll avoid being a stranger, thank you.

You might want to start off by posting some pics of your lights and giving us a small low down and why you like it.

I don't have a picture host at the moment and there doesn't seem to be a way to do a direct uplink on this forum, unless I've missed something?

You can always register at Photobucket or Imageshack.

That may be the best option, I'll look into it at some point.

I am with you Stan

i can not put up photos either have tried to but not got a clue what to do

Please note that there is no uplink button when you post or start a new thread. Both sites are free and you can upload as many pics as you desire.

i still dont have clue

Its really easy.......the site is free like i said before.....if you register on Imageshack all you have to do is upload the pic, after upload just click on the Eye-it will bring up the pic and all you have to do is copy the addy and click on the boxed house....take a look a the pic.

And just click on the house and paste the url there and click okay.

Hey there Stan, you're right, at the moment we don't have an image upload facility on this forum. You just link to images that are already uploaded to a site elsewhere on the internet. I'd be glad to add upload capability if the general consensus is that it would be preferable. Or maybe Imagebucket or Picasa or whatever might be just as easy? You guys decide. Thanks a lot!

I know that your trying to make it easy but would'nt doing that bog down the server.

I guess it depends on how much traffic we have around here. An advantage of Photobucket or Imageshack is that they make it easy to share those pictures for other purposes too.

Yes i know what you mean.....i have been using imageshack for years now......makes a good back for my pics instead of hunting around for cd's.

Hi Stan welcome to that club :-)

I know it's a budget light forum but you'll still be skint just have one hell of a lot more lights to show for it

Charles

Hi Stan, welcome from me as well. It's good to have you here. :)

With regard to picture uploads, well, I'm not directly opposed to it or anything. It's just that in my - very limited experience - it can become a cause of headaches pretty fast when "unlimited traffic" plans turn out to be not so unlimited or when someone decides to use large files (hq images) as an attack vector in a DDOS attack. DDOS mitigation is hard and costly so most hoster's policy is akin to "if in doubt, nullroute" which is the Internet-equivalent of pulling the plug and up until a couple of years ago, it was pretty common for HK-based retailers to (D)DOS each other for fun and profit. Using an external file hosters with plenty of bandwidth and a DDOS mitigation strategy in place pretty much takes that concern off the table.
