2AA Mini-Mag with a Side Switch, DrJones driver and a 3-up - just another crazy mod... It's Finished!

Can not wait to see finished project!! Beam shots too!!

Been thinking about doing a switched AA for awhile. Not surprised OL beat me to the punch. Rivited

Was there invitations sent out for this party? Who’s shout.

Crazy indeed! Great job, thanks for sharing.

Copper is definitely going up in price fast. Even copper plumbing fittings are getting way high. I usually buy from Lowe's and they have various small sizes of pipe in two foot lengths, but the new stock has gotten too high. I still have some of the old stock and that's what I have been using. Just trying to use up what I have.

That is the first dark blue Mag I have seen. I thought it might be a new color or someone sent a sample color out with the rest of a run.

With the temps in the 90's-100's it might be a few days to finish, since I just get an hour or two in the mornings.

We aren't spoiled by China, it's just that we don't realize just how much of our taxes go back to China, to subsidize their shipping. It isn't free, we are paying for it and paying for the manipulation of the Yuan.

Haha, tell me about it. I just installed 90 feet of copper pipe in my living room, for use as steampunk decor. It looks nice, but it could definitely stand to be a little cheaper.

The mod is finished. See the OP for the rest of the mod.

Orsm build OL. Did the switch rubber boot slip in after or before assembly?

Nice build!
A question though, does the driver accept more than 8.4V? Or does it have to be used with a dummy cell.

- driver only accepts up to 4.2V, it’s a NANJG 105C

  • what dummy cell, thers no place for dummy cell, one 14500 only (runtime on high = 5 minutes :stuck_out_tongue: )

Very nice… particularly like how you mounted the switch.

Apologies if you said so in the video, but where did the switch cover come from?

Thanks O-L

its always interesting to see your mods.. and you usually show as if it is pretty easy to do...

I can`t come even close to what you do with your mags...

(probably this is going up for sale pretty soon?)

@ MRsDNF - The rubber switch cover went in the body first, before the rest went in.

@Slewflash - Answered in Sirius9's post. aDWE34 This assembly replaces what would be the dummy cell.

@ ruffles - The switch cover came out of a cheap multi-led light.

@ChibiM - Once the Efest battery comes in and I do beam shots, it will go up for sale.

That’s a serious cram job. Until you’ve modded a Minimag, it’s hard to realize just how much less room there is than in an 18650 host. Always interesting to watch these evolutions.

You rascal! You can truly put 5 lbs. of stuff in a 1 lb. sack!!! ...and STILL make it look good!!

Neat Mod, video and images!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Dan.

Glad you use your powers for good, instead of evil.

Love your work O-L, simply love the out-of-the-box thinking that goes on at your place!

Would like a shot at that one my own self, auction it off, make us pay for that ingenuity! (or just sell it to me cheap on the sly before you tell anyone else what the price is  )

LOL. Very few posts have me doing that. Well said Gj.

I just had to come and look at this again!! A mini with a side switch!! And just this week, I ran like a chicken in the rain when a customer wanted a side switch on a little light with two 14500's.... And I make the whole thing ....much easier in my mind than doing a mod! He gets when finished, a twisty!!

I MIGHT re think this now and surprise him... Get out the jewelers tweezers and optics... microscope, band aids, a glass of scotch to steady the hands, 3 more lathes, two more mills, another dial indicator, rip out another hand full of hair, Tylenol, 16 new gadgets.... never mind.... twisty it is!

Go ahead..... Laugh! I see that grin! I can't help it if I need a tug boat to launch a canoe!!! CAN'T HELP IT!!! CAN'T!!!!!!

Dan.

Jacktheclipper likes this .

Excellent work , Mr. Justin .

It was just a plain old dark blue MiniMag

'Till the Godfather modded it without a snag

It's now stylish and bright

and the man with this light

Will obviously have every right to brag
