xml drop in 3-18v

http://www.lck-led.com/p866/Cree-XML-T6-Drop-In-1-Mode-LED-Module-(3V~18V-/-26.5mm-x-29mm)/product_info.html Found this 3-18V drop in while browsing for parts to make a multi cell drop-in out of an old burnt out xpg drop-in. Anybody have this? The picture shows an xre but the discription is for an xml. I'm assuming the picture is incorect.

I was orignaly going to use this driver http://www.lck-led.com/p501/Constant-Current-LED-Driver-Board---3-Modes,5.5-12v,3.0A,P7,MCE/product_info.html and a t6 xml emitter. The driver is a bit too big but i think i can make it work anyway. This would have the advantage of having lower modes and still be able to use handle up to 3 18650s. BTW an xpg reflector seems to be similar in profile to an xml reflector. I increased the opening of the xpg reflector to match the opening of my manifont xml drop-in and then tested it. The beam is not exactly the same because one is smooth and one is light orange peeled but the beams are close enough. My MCE reflector was about the same as well. When i tested an xre reflector, the beam was all flood. I didn't like it at all.

I REALLY wish someone would come out with a 3A XM-L driver (17mm) or drop-in that handled 3V-8.4V+ and had at least 3 modes (1-5%/30%/100%). You wouldn't think that'd be so hard to come up with but what do I know?

Johnny *disappointed* Mac

I never knew they had one. They had/have a 3-mode 4.2V 2.8A driver but not an 8.4V version AFAIK. Gonna have to check the site again. If you do have such a beast we'll have to contact SB and find out why they don't carry it any longer.

Update: WOW! They don't even have a 2.8A driver any longer. Used to get 6 results when searching for "circuit board" on SB's site but now there are only 5 results. That stinks.

Too expensive.

The SB 2,8 amp driver is Nanjg 105C originally 5-mode but bridged to 3-mode (losing the blinkys). They are probably just out of stock. I prefer to get them from KD anyway, as I flash them myself and that blob of solder between the pins in SB version is one PITA to remove. And it has to be removed to get the flashing going.

And Hrvoje: They have U2 version of that dropin also. It's very bright, but the tint is purplish. Here's my review of that dropin and L2X host.

Only problem with the SB or KD versions is they are only good for single cell application. They won't handle 8.4V. :(

I wish they make 3A 1 cell drivers that do 5/50/100% for P60 - WF50X, L2s and the like.
