MPP-1 = 2 cell. (to get the most lumens, spec is 200 lumens for 1 cell, 275 lumens for 2-cell)

DBS aspheric = 1 cell.

Distance = 6m

They measured the DBS aspheric to be about 55-60K. SR90 would be about 100K.

Do you have the lux measurement for the Solarforce? How do the two seem to compare as far as throw when you take them out at night?

gcbryan, i do not have the lux/CP measurement for the Solarforce. Would really love to get one someday, but the Manafont does not seem to be that accurate. (they have more reviews on the same one at DX) Good ones cost 100+ range doing up to 400K lux. The Lodestar lightmeter at DX/manafont goes up to only 20K. Good for LEDs @ 10m, but useless for high powered HIDs. Unless you do not mind doing longer distance measurements.

But basically most of the well-known lights have known figures. The Solarforce seems to be in the 50k CP range. At long distances like 400m on a white building, both are at their limits in a bright cityscape environment. The MPP-1 is somewhat dimmer than the DBS aspheric. When its a hazy night and you point it upwards at the dark sky to see the beam cutting through the air, the DBS is somewhat brighter as well.

AT least for 50 bucks you can do 50k...not too shabby. CEM meters are decent Made In China meters, like Uni-T.

FWIW - Bigchelis at CPF said he measured 48k lux for the Masterpeice Pro 1.

Yep...its about there. It should be 48K CP. You can do 1m readings, but let the beam spread a little to do its thing. Big reflectored HIDs do not spread out and do their thing below like 6m.

Example: Lux meter reads 10,000lux @ 10 meter distance, CP=10,000x10x10= 1 Million CP

For the MPP-1, you need to be using at least 2-cells charged up, ie above 8V, to max it out.

50K lux meter would be great. 10m measurements will get you up to 5 million CP.
If you play short arcs then 400k lux meters is a must or be prepared to run a lot.

The Lightpipe 250 narrow spot 7" reflectored 5mm gap 250W HID MH probably would be hitting at least 6 million CP mark.

Any idea of the lux reading for a Uniquefire HS-802 just as a way of comparison? I have that light.

Mine just drew 30mA on high after I got it to light up at all. With an XM-L and a 3A driver it seems I have not yet measured it. Beamshots here.

I think Budgeteer pulled 31k on his HS-801 but I should let him confirm that.

Measuring from the battery I get 800mA on a 18650 measuring 3.9v. I just measured another 18650 XR_E R2 light and I got 300 mA. Maybe it's just my measuring equipment that isn't very accurate?

Both are very bright and throw far. I've never been clear as to the connection between amps drawn at the battery and at the emitter.
