What did you use your flashlight for today?

I have not cached quite in your neighbourhood, but if i make it to your neck of the woods i am certainly up for it

We usually do a couple runs a month. ( and at least one night-run with the lights !

I like that idea!

I used my Convoy S5 to identify a large house spider (!!!), and also provide nice ceiling-bounced light for Skype chat.

Today I used my Explorer E82 modded with xml T6 to inspect the inside of the crankcase of a cooling compressor for our meat freezer room and our vegetable cooler room. Looks like I'll be overhauling a compressor in the near future as the crankshaft can move about 1mm lengthwise.

Even though my deck has decent lighting, you still can't see clearly what your cooking. Nothing worse than an over cooked hamburger, steak, etc. Am I right, or am I right? lol!

To show off. Really. 8)

I used four lights this evening.

First of all, I used my wonderful $17 Ultrafire XM-L headlamp to help see my way while starting a small bonfire of debris, and finish tidying up my outdoor work areas after the day’s jobs.

Then I grabbed my warm white Convoy M1 to go looking in an unlit shed for some tools I hadn’t found earlier; the high CRI makes it ideal for figuring out a glance what is what.

Once that was done, I pocketed the M1 and grabbed the XinTD C8 to go hunting for some livestock which had strayed onto my land earlier in the day. The headlamp pointing down on low power to illuminate my path, and the C8 as a searchlight. The headlight is usually enough to see all round the field I am in but the C8 is wonderful for searching the next field, which may save a bit of walking if the contours allow me to do enough of a sweep over the hedges.

Then when I got back home, I took out the very floody SkyRay King to do a final scan of my outdoor work areas.

Then I went inside, and dumped the XM-L headlamp, because it’s a bit big and heavy. I put on my little $7 XP-G headlamp, because it’s more than powerful enough for looking in cupboards while I tidy up, and I fit it more relaxing to wear than the big headlamp.

That’s pretty much the usual mix for a dry autumn evening. No shelf queens in my collection!

I had a sprinkler head blow off… we have insanely high (over 100 PSI) water pressure around here The head would not screw back on to the coupler. Threaded coupler was down a narrow 8” deep hole. Used a Nichia 219 mod’d Sprit to look down the hole to find the coupler, auger it out with the sprinkler tool, fish out gunk with long tweezers, replace it, and get it all back together.

Also used the TV-B-Gone flashlight to nuke off a couple of really annoying TVs at an eatery.

Most of all I carry Armytek Predator. Today is not an exception

I have a warm-white XR-E P60 build I use for that purpose exactly!

My EDC is a modded TrustFire F20 (https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/13006) which is always in my pocket. I just realized that I have been carrying this for nearly a year now.

I typically keep my lights around my nightstand and always carry the F20 so it is always in my pocket, while at home, work, out shopping, or at church. It sees daily use. Last use this morning was looking for socks for work in my dresser. Nothing fun yet, but the day's not over! In fact, it just started... Frown

Only four more days, then for a week and a half vacation at the gulf coast! A lot more uses for light there... Walking on the beach at night looking for shark teeth...

On Friday night we had homecoming at our local high school. The nominees for homecoming queen and their fathers traditionally go through the blow-up tunnel (same one the football players charge out of before the game and at half-time). Well, it was quite dark in there, so I helped them out a little with my Fenix LD01. I always get the same response…“How does it put out that much light?”…heheheh

I also use it every day since it is dark when I leave for work. The neighbors dogs like to leave little ‘land mines’ in our front yard…so I have to traverse them to get to my truck.

Oh…we also had a power outage on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.,…yippee!

I used my Palight M6-2 for installing and connecting the 440 V contactor and over current protection plus the buttons and indication lights for a new little diesel pump inside a small electrical cabinet.

And for determining the level of bilge water in the engine room bilge wells this morning.

Three of us from the photo club were going up on the roof of a restaurant down town to take pictures of a street festival below. The attic was dimly lit and the lead of the group could not find the roof hatch handle at the top of the ladder. I reached in my camera bag and brought out my SK-68 clone. He was 20 feet above me, so I lit up his world and they were impressed. Good times.

Heck when I first read that I thought - Crikey how many lumens is that putting out……. :open_mouth:

lots and lots! enough to burn through the bottom of my Weber Grill!

Monday

6:01pm - used torch to check wiring the seal on the EGT probe connected to the pyrometer on the vehicle (boring!)

6:45pm - used headlight to express Drago's glands, you know...down there! For you dog owners you'll know what I'm talking about. (YUCK - barf!)

9:00pm - pick up dog poop (gag'd a little back of the throat)

9:02pm - use light to find ball

9:15pm - use light to find ball

9:45pm - use light to spot Coyote

9:46pm - use light to find dog that has run after Coyote

9:51pm - use light to find iphone during the chase to find the dog that has run after Coyote

10:05pm - use light to aid while hosing off dog shit on shoe

Tuesday

1:09am - use light to find my way down the garage to swap out batteries on the hobby charger.

Call this post ^ “why I don’t have a dog.”

But thanks, VERY funny!

Nothing really. Which feels weird in hindsight. Sigh.

I built myself an 80cri xm-l2 trustfire a8 clone (think its an aleto, its an ebay special) it uses a qlite driver.

This is my toolbox light at work and its perfect, small enough to drop in an overall top pocket, with a 26650 it gives enough run time by a long stretch, I used it today to check pipe and belt runs under sone refrigerated vehicles.

Tonight I took my stepson to rugby training, I took my 18sixfifty modded trj19 with me to “test out” I used it to give sone hapless innocent walker carrying sone aa torch a sun tan……
