Ah.. that changes things. I would like it a lot more without the grip. I thought it was machined aluminum.
I like the idea of a forward clicky, but I don't like the protruding switch boot. That was the standard switch?
The story here has to be the fwd clicky w/ mode dropins. Must select mode first before turning on.
Yes sorry folks , the grip ring is very well color matched , the clicky on the L2T is standard forward switch .
A normal L2 is reverse clicky .. Im not sure if you can buy the L2T with anything else but the forward clicky , you may need to mod it if you want reverse .
Though using a forward clicky is no real issue , except changing modes takes a little more work .
Can you check if the switch circuit in the tail is the same as the l2? SF will sell you one for $2, I found out because I burned one by putting the battery backwards.
Also, is the coating HA-2/3? Ie, is it scratchproof?
I have been waiting for someone to get their hands on one of these. I think it looks real nice. I have to find a good holster, it doesn’t look like it will fit in the open holsters I use.
Anodizing ? Feels more like it were parkarised , anyhow , Solarforce description .

Looks good, mine came also today, but I wasn't around....so need to wait till tomorrow morning to collect it from the post office.
I love the look of that new head more than any of the others as well as that awesome matte finish it has! If the body was knurled like the others but with that matte finish it would be so pimp. I think it would make me consider getting my first SolarForce light.

My L2 are pretty much scratch proof. Unless you put them in your pocket for weeks and run around with keys beside them. So not too much worries.
Nice review, Old4570. I like this one in particular because they've done away with that awful hex-nut anti-roll ring on the head. May have to try one.
You mean the surface material? Mine gets worn down, not a huge deal but ha-iii is obviously "better".

My HA stuff flakes....even for Dereelight quality, but its really a very minor flake, usually its at the edges. 
The guys at CPF says that only the top few lights have HA that are good enough not to flake, their Fenix etc all flake to a certain degree with hard usage.
But seriously, this type II surface really has a confidence inspiring surface, more so than my L2P / L2X.
My Fenix L2D did less than 2 months after I bought it while being under my pillow.
I Probably had a dream and bit my flashlight. It is the only explanation valid at CPF.

looks like this will do the job - little pricey for the accessories at SF but seems to be higher quality host ...
and i can t believe they made such a nice host with the switch boot hanging out - looks as awkward as a Baboons ass IMO. should have made it red lol. seriously something protected would have been nice.
... does this have any better contact than say Sky*Ray S-R5 body in your experience or anyone else's experience? i am a bit worried about the MF 3 mode xml getting to hot and to warm for holding
