Which flashlights provide great value for the money?

Well I just pulled the trigger on the KD C8 18650 light. I wonder how long it will take to get here? It is my first KD purchase. :) That was my play money for the month, so it is all good. :)

Uniquefire AA-S1.

Just get one...

You should get it in 2-3 weeks and you are going to love it. Did you get the OP or SMO reflector?

How does the ultrafire C8 XML compare to the KD C8 XML? I have the ultrafire C8 and its pretty bright with really good throw. It does have a ringy beam and gets hot within a few min on high.

I don't have an Ultrafire C8 just the KD one so I have no idea, sorry.

Back when I first started visiting BLF , I bought this light mainly because of the reports of an Osram emitter that had a warm tint and the ill-fitting reflector that softened the hotspot to an almost pure flood . Well , the beam profile is great , but the one I received has a cool tint . I have never liked the tint of this light . Yet the form factor and beam have kept this light as my EDC for over a year .

I got the OP version that was listed in the link above because my understanding is that the OP version is more flood and has a smoother beam overall. I can not see things at a great distance so do not need a thrower. :) Thank you all for the great help and advice. :)

Perfect that was the right choice for the right reasons, both of mine are OPs also.

Now I am back to one of my other posts. Order Anxiety. LOL :) Now I wait....time to get out the flashlight and tinker for 3 weeks. :)

I have always found KD to have fast post. Might only be 2 weeks

fantastic....I have a NASCAR race to keep me busy right now, so the next few hours is covered. LOL :)

got one but.... hate the tint ..it's green as green can be seems these are a pure tint lottery ..beam pattern is ok but I really hate the body as well ..dumb clip ,no grip or knurl ,stupid deep clicky thats a pain in the tail to use ...like pushing a childs belly button (an inny) I don't like the Akoray for the same reasons..same dumb body ..it just feels wrong and then add a bad tint ?? It was for sale the day I got it . it hasn't sold yet ..Hard for me to sell things I don't like .

+1 on everything Boaz ... sold mine to a colleague ... he liked it, but he only has inca-Mags to compare... mine also had a horrible "tint"... full story HERE

The tint on mine is pretty good. Won the lottery there, but the emitter is off center on mine, so lose some, too.

Was there ever any consensus on comparing this to the MRV style lights like the Trustfire F15? I like the looks of that body style better but that's secondary if this one actually has nicer quality/tint/etc.

Thanks.

Oops, posted in wrong thread. I meant comparing C8 from KD w/ MRV types.

Any update did you get your KDC8 light yet?

I have heard nothing about my KDC8 light yet and I do not have it. My order has not shown up on the KD site but I have been charged for the light via Paypal. :(

I just got my KD C8 today it came and I had to sign for it. I did a quick comparison with my favorite P60 light as it is the closest thing I have to the KD C8 and overall the KD C8 is brighter than my 3 mode MF XML P60 light.

Nice are happy with it or very happy.:)

A pigs ear - into a silk purse ?

I'll just give you my top picks ,

For AA and AAA - ITP 3 mode .

If you have more money to spend , Nitecore - Jetbeam [ AA ] also the N-light B2 - B3 possibly

For 18650 or P60 host , lots to chose from , but ATM I find the Solarforce L2T to be the bees knees ! Combine it with a low current XM-L drop in for a very useful flashlight that should give excellent service , I have 3 ATM , dont plan on buying more [ Unless Solarforce brings out another color or finish ]

There is simply too much out there , and every light has its place and function ...
