Thread is back from the dead! I've just noticed this one recently added to the DX New Arrivals, now floating in my wish list:
http://dx.com/p/trustfire-l2m-cree-xm-l-t6-650lm-3-mode-memory-white-flashlight-silver-1-x-cr123a-16340-268664
"Trustfire L2M" with throwaway T6 drop-in for only $8.60. It says 16340; I don't know if an 18350 will fit or not. Probably going to end up in an order for me soon anyway...
I'm thinking 101-AK with XP-G2 emitter should make a good compact light.

Thanks keltex78. I was looking at L2M clones on DX a few months ago and they had three or four “shiny” ones like that with various modes and emitter combinations. But all of them were $11 or more, and I don’t think any of them were 3-modes. So I had to jump on this one at $8.60.

L2M with L2T bezel.
Cutting corners sort-of-speak.

I think the Niteye Eye10 is better than the Jetbeam RRT01. Looks nicer..

+1 The Niteye 10 is one spectacular little gem. And the best price is from FastTech even though they are slowly losing the handle on prices. Got mine at $46 and now lookin to be @$50. Get em while ya can. It and the JB RT001 are virtual clones. http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10004049/1291801-niteye-eye10-cree-xm-l-u2-260-lumen-led-flashlight

Doesn’t the JetBeam RRT01 have 3x as more lumens?

Absolutely not. They are both in the @600 lumen range when run on 18350.

That is very weird. The only thing that stopped me from getting the Eye10 is because the rated brightness was pretty low:

Ah, that makes much more sense, thanks for the clarification.
Weird how the manufacturer wouldn’t put the actual max number of lumens.
Using the specified CR123, output was measured at 262lm, pretty much spot on the specified 260lm maximum output.
Then, it got interesting….
Using an AW protected RCR123 with ICR chemistry, the EYE10 output 563lm. An impressive boost.
Then I loaded an AW RCR123 with IMR chemistry. IMRs have the lowest internal resistance of li-ions and have the ability to deliver very high current. On the IMR, the EYE10 output 662lm! Yes, you read right, 662lm. At this output level the EYE10 gets warm within 30s and hot after a minute or so. The heatsinking is good, but the entire light then gets hot after a couple of minutes.

This fits a 18350. I received one yesterday. I had to put o rings on it and grease it up a bit, but I am not too disappointed. The mode spacing is too close together but memory works well.

Thank you for adding the Marsfire 616!
I found a photo of the driver side on Wallbuys, unfortunately there is just a spring and contact plate visible, I wonder if there is a standard 17mm driver inside that can be swapped out easily?
Would be nice to have better mode spacing.
Is the clicky reverse or forward?
How is the tint?

Forward and the XPG2 is pure white, not at all blue or purple. I like the tint and I order NW in all of my lights if it is an option.

Hi,
The 602C is a CR123A light, so it uses more like a 16340, rather than 18350 battery.
yes i know. i need something with similar lenth size/compact to the 602c but with the 18350 battery capability
Will an 18350 fit in that host? The description only says cr123a.

I’ve found some indications that the MarsFire 303 is compatible with 18350 batteries. This seller on Alibaba states that it uses 18350:
And if you read the review on Fasttech the user there is very disappointed that his 16340 rattles a lot which lead me to believe that it should be able to use 18350.

Go ahead and try and tell me so I can buy one myself.

Oh, and then you have the Niteye EYE10 and Jetbeam RRT-01 . Haven’t tried it myself though, a bit to expensive for my taste.
