Hi all,
Have been reading blf for months now, really liked the community here and this is my first post so i thought i’ll share one of my flashlight builds
I thought i’ll post it here first as it seems more relevant (It is a budget light afterall)
I really liked cree’s MT-G2 emitter, so I built my first T10b MT-G2 light a few months back… But still i felt its too big and not really pocketable… I wanted to build a light you could keep in your pocket and light up a whole room if you needed to
Received an Ultrafire SK98 (Sipik Sk98 clone) and thought, gee… if i could fit the MT-G2 in the T10b, why not cram it into the SK98??
So …
The led is HUGE compared to my nitecore SRT5 (ok not really since it has an aspheric lens but still… :D)
Note : SK98 MT-G2 itself is smaller in size then the SRT5, but weights slightly heavier (due to driver and 2 x imr)
This thing can literally flood an entire room with light, focusing it makes it throw better… but it the throw beam is still huge, it makes up for it will sheer brightness
This ultrafire SK98 was one of the lucky ones that passed the hollow pill lottery (mine was a solid pill)…
Light is running on a iOS 4.5a 3 mode driver (H,M,L) powered by 2 x IMR AW 18350 cells, and yes, it zooms
Guestimate brightness would be about 2,500 LED lumens on high (tailcap about 4~ amps), 1,000-ish lumens on medium and maybe 150-ish lumens on low
On high, It gets warm within a few seconds of using and HOT after about a minute, surprisingly, on medium and low mode, it doesn’t get really hot and on low theres practically no heat
Beamshots!! Note, on the left is my SRT5 on max output (750 ansi lumens), on the left, SK98 MT-G2 fully zoomed out
Merry Christmas all!!
