MTN Electronics: LEDs - Batteries - Lights - Chargers - Hosts - Drivers - Components - 1-Stop-US Source

EDIT: you answered your own question ;)

It is the complete flashlight but I admit that I've never been able to leave it stock.

The cells in this light are in parallel so you can run one or two cells but if you want to hold 5A with an XM-L2 for any reasonable amount of time you really need two cells.

I have converted a few to serial configuration for an MT-G2 but the stock light and the mods I'm offering are parallel.

Sorry for the confusion, been doing a lot of cell phone edits on the run.

I'll get some reflowed in the next couple of days and let you know (unless I destroy them all in the process! )

I just changed the way that the P60 dropins are listed, as well as a few other tweaks. I will continue to work on simplifying the site and implementing some of the excellent suggestions I have received from all of you!

What sort of memory, if any, does the color driver use?

I received my custom P60 drop-in and I love it. XM-L2 T4 7A3 tint is just perfect for close up work and night walks.

Thank you for putting it together and shipping it so quickly.

No memory at all. It always starts at the same spot. Not as bad as next mode memory but not ideal in my opinion.

Is that stock on your shrinkwrap correct (1 foot left)? Thought I recalled someone asking but don’t see it.

Yes, there is only one foot left. I should have a lot more within the next week.

Damn, you answer fast. Thanks!
Some people looking for shrinkwrap due to the keeppower issue. Just remembered you started carrying it. Now I can mention they don’t have to wait 3 months for FT.

So, always starts on white (in group 1)? That's OK, it's on my wish list. (Isn't everything?)

On my wish list too. Might be a good gift for hunting friends now that I know they can avoid the flashy modes.

Yep, it always starts on white. I will make a video to show how the driver works when I get a minute! Maybe I'll put it in an S3.

What lights have reflectors which will fit the MT-G2's?

I was thinking about the Convoy C8 you sell, but I guess I would probably have to drill the reflector hole larger. Yes?

Did you have to drill your C12 reflector for the huge MT-G2 emitter?

I'm also getting some P7 sized P60 drop-ins. I expect those to work.

The MT-G2’s dome barely fits in the Convoy M1’s reflector, which is 9mm, so I think I’d use that as the rule of thumb.

In many cases, the centering ring …when removed…leaves the reflector in perfect readiness for the MTG2

The Convoy C8 reflector definitely needs to be enlarged for the MT-G2. The pill is also 16mm vs. 20mm, I used to think that this wouldn't work, but I was shown otherwise by Comfychair (see post #323). You need to grind down the MCPCB and remove some of the solder mask over the trace. I had to open up the reflector on my XinTD V4 and on my Ultrafire C12 to make the MT-G2 work. I ground it out at first, now I am using a t-handle reamer which is slower but produces a much nicer finished result.

I haven't looked very closely yet at the M1 reflector, it may work without anything, but I'm not sure yet. If you order one together with an MT-G2 leave me a note and I'll open it up a bit with my reamer so it will work with the MT-G2.

The Small Sun ZY-T08 doesn't need to be opened up at all to work with the MT-G2.

there isn’t room for any kind of centering ring in the M1 reflector, which makes me a little leery as it risks the reflector rubbing against the dome when tightening the bezel down.

TGT, cut the dome off and you won’t have to worry about that!

I sliced one about 1/32” above the die face, then cut off he phosphor that extended beyond the actual dies, works great, somewhat smaller hot spot. Comfy recommened I put silicone grease on the blade to help ease it through the dome, which works quite nicely. I bought a scalpel and blades, but wouldn’t you know I ended up getting 20 blades that are NOT chisel grind! Who woulda thought it’d be difficult to find a chisel ground scalpel blade? Still looking…

I saw someone posted they used a paper clip as a guide, looped it around the dome and pulled against the blade to keep a consistent cut, sliding the blade over the metal clip like a spacer. Sand the paper clip down if it’s too thick. Just don’t pull hard, ya know? Counter the force of the blade.

Yes, this is an MT-G2!

The dome is 8mm, the 'standard' XML hole is 7mm (corner-to-corner across the square substrate). Some using a nonstandard centering ring have emitter holes of 8mm or 9mm.

MTG2 usually has the best focus when it's farther back from the reflector's inside surface than is typical with other LEDs, so the hole doesn't need to be large enough for the entire square base to fit through.
