Just another 2 times 2D Mag mod, photo heavy - One is done, the other is DOA. 50% survival rate. That's all folks.

To the best of my knowledge, an Eneloop will put out 1.2V. That puts the voltage of 5 in series at 6V so it should be in range for most drivers.

Thanks. My idiotic mistake. I think I multiplied 2 x 5 and got 10. Thanks. Makes sense now.

1.2V nominal voltage same thing as 3.7V on li-ion. Fully charged they will be around 1.45V

Eneloops come off my charger at 1.4V, which means it would be 7V off the charger, but at 6 amps drain, they will drop to 1.1V rapidly. That will leave it around 5.5V and it should work ok with an XM-L2 at 6 amps. At least it shouldn't kill the drivers. I will have to wrap the drivers with a heat sink, but I already planned on having to do that.

Strange, I multiplied 2 x 5 and got pi … I know it’s highly irrational to do that, but it’s cold…

Call me stupid but how on earth do you get away doing what you do to drivers and they still work? I cannot for the life of me solder one extra chip on let alone 35 thousand of them complete with custom heat sinks. Next time you get your teleporting machine working beam me over. Nice work OL.

It’s very tedious and frustrating doing those chips and trying to add in the copper without shorting it to the pins was just a little over the top. I don’t think I will try that again.

Maybe you could have painted the edge of the copper facing the pins with varnish or polyurethane for a bit of protection?

Super nice OL.... And now I have to say... YEP... it finally got cold in Tyler!! Tongue Out... Well... Chilly.

That black light with all the filing is another masterpiece. I had a German gent that worked for me at one time. He did a 5 year apprenticeship. 4 of that 5 years... his words were "I learned to use a file". They used files 6 & 8 hours a day. What he could do with a file was unbelievable.... What I see in your images...(and have sitting on my shelf) is highly comparable. What art that is! Absolutely amazing. You make MRs DNF and I struggle to keep up and we use lathes! Beautiful!

As always, Thanks for sharing your talent, time, knowledge and expertise! Dan.

The Black Mag (MT-G2) is finished. Photos in the OP.

What I did was to cut the copper so that it was not right on the edge of the chips, but I imagine a coating could work.

I’m still not happy but nice work. Can you show this poor ignorant sod how the battery holder works on the next one. Thanks.

shouldn’t you have used a thermal paste instead of FUJIK on the MTG 2 build as you are overdriving it to 6A to get better heat transfer ?

and have you zener moded the 16chip NANJG ?

+1Undecided

I use Arctic Alumina. I don’t use Fujik for stars or for most applications. Yes, I have the zener mod on any MT-G2 using the 7135 driver.

Yes, I will show the battery holder mod.

2 new OL masterpieces

Added a video on the battery holder just now, at the bottom of the OP.

Pure magic OL. I can well believe it took a day to build. Again I dip my hat to your creativity and abilities. Thanks.
