2009 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Custom
My current ride. I bought it in 2010 and it now has over 32k miles on it. I don't have a pic of it uploaded (much to my surprise) but here is one that looks just like mine except I've changed out the seat and added a luggage rack/backrest.

2007 Buell P3/Blast
I got back into riding with this one right after my divorce. This is my bike pictured (lots of photos of this one for some reason). I bought it new and put over 26k miles on it before it shit the bed on me by having it motor literally fall out on me on the highway. I got back every penny when they covered it under the state lemon law (couldn't keep an exhaust pipe in one piece. That and the whole engine falling out on the highway thing). Took the money from it and bought my current H-D 883 Custom.

1985 Ninja 600R
My second motorcycle. Bought new. Didn't have it in one piece for long before I totaled it with just 1000 miles on it. Had it for several years and fixed it back up. Ended up selling it. That person totaled it in just 2 days. This time I think it stayed dead. I swear the bike was cursed.
Bike pictured is not mine but exactly like it. I think I have some old photos somewhere in an album but are probably lost.

1974 Yamaha RD350
My first motorcycle. Can't recall how many miles I had on it when I sold it to a co-worker. AFAIK it's still alive.
Not my bike pictured but one exactly like it. I don't think I have any photos of this one. If I ever did they are long lost.

Nice thread, I’ll share
First bike, 1986 VFR700. Painted it myself with rattle cans (including the Honda wing on the tank)

Second and current ride, 1995 VFR750. Swapped out the front end, gauges, rear hub and rim (there was nothing wrong with it, guess I just like to tinker

Yamaha was yellow back in the day, 70’s was YZ Yellow not that stupid looking RM yellow

My girlfriend knows I put a ton of money into the bike but idk if the figure of $15k+ would make it mind blowing lol I have a ton put into my safety gear as well but that’s acceptable  $600 for knee braces beats a $10k surgery. $600 neck brace beats being paralyzed any day! $500 helmet is still not enough IMO, I mean its my dang melon!

I love racing the track but dont get me wrong, I still love sandpits (if I can find any still open lol) and I will ride the woods (although I have a slight sour feeling about the woods still. The Honda cr125 shown above was my first bike, yes I started later than most racers. I got it for xmas and being that I lived in MA, its was snowy. Decided to go out for a ride to the reservoir anyways with my dad on his ATV. Made it all the way up and back with NO problem. Get 200 yards from the exit of the trail and I dump the bike on a ice covered mud hole. Put a nice dent in the new FMF exhaust and ever since then I have been super cautious while riding in the woods. If I smashed my thumpers exhaust I’d cry :_(

Anyways, now my dad got a ’03 yz125 and is learning to ride, yes my dad is learning to ride at over 50. Crazy if you ask me but he has always wanted to learn so I give him all my older equipment and let him do his thing. Im pretty sure he is selling the 2 smoke for a thumper since at his age he doesnt want to ride in the powerband and thus fouls a few plugs. Dont blame him so maybe a nice woods bike or even a yz250f will be coming to accompany mine. I’m pushing for a mx bike over woods so I can use it if mine ever is out of service

Thanks for the pictures and stories guys. I’d love to respond to all of them as they all mean something to someone but I do need a life. Keep em coming.

Suncoaster. I should know where all your shots are taken but unfortunately I never stopped to look at the scenery. The overseas shots would be ones to treasure as well. So the 600 yammie does exist. Sounds a bit like an 850 that may or may not exist.

JM. My first road bike was an RD250 from 1976. It had wire wheels back and front with a disc rear end. I never saw another like it. Before I had my license I put 350 barrels and heads on it as we had a maximum size of 250cc on a provisional license. It was written of as well as me about 4 months after getting my licence. It was rebuilt and ridden on the road and drag strip for 12 years after this. Another that I should still have in my shed. Damn.

Heres a shot from the other day that may not happen again. Left to right. Brothers 750 Honda, Mates Victory Vegas with many mods, My TRX, Brothers 650 Katana and the Old man on his Harley. He did all right for a 76 year old. My only problem with him is that I cant keep up with him in anything.

bad pic of a bad pic years ago. dont know if i still have the original photo kicking around.

there was a man made "pond" out back of my house, they piled the dirt up around it. dont look so impressive, but I am landing on flat ground lol

Impressive Pulsar. KX80?

yeah, that was my 97 kx80. my 92 rm80 had way more nut, but also blew the.motor every other week. was tweaked to the max. it woukd eat wrist pin bearings, stretched rods, melted pistons... the thing was a beast. but the kx had a nice smooth powerban, where the rm was all bog then balls to the walls.

Paid $800 for a ’76 GT750 w/17,000 miles about 10 years ago. Invested a few hundred in parts and now it looks and runs great!

Mine shows it’s age more than this pic but similarly it’s all stock. Last year, it got 1st place in a local car show that included bikes.

Like all the bikes, especially the Yamaha RD350, basically same engine used in the Banshee quad and Suzuki GT750, water buffalo. Really want one of the old two strokes but anything with more than one carb can be a pain to work on. Will get up a few pics this weekend, too cold here at the moment to take pictures.

Here’s my recently sold Honda VTR1000 Firestorm

And its replacement, the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird

What an astounding machine the Blackbird is. And scary. I love it.

a pre-owned Honda CBX 125 custom (identical in condition and color to this pic):

She gave me my first taste of the easy rider style and a sense of freedom like no other vehicle. Cos her handlebars were still narrow enough to allow me squeezing her between cars to make it all the way to the front of a queue. Pretty frugal on gas and repairs she was! My main issues with her were leaking oil, intermittent breaking of her main-stand axle and faulty starter motor. Despite her idiosyncracies, she was memorable enough to make me grin with nostalgia. I learned the importance of trouble shooting problems with tenacity and commitment in repairing faults. Got me into reading the ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance’. So I like to remember her as my mobile premarital counsellor…In fact, I had given quite a few gals pillion rides on her as well!

the rd 350 is an air cooled motor. my mom had an rd400 when i was a kid. the rz 350 has the same motor as the banshee, just different gearing in the transmission and a variable valve system.

the rz 500 is kind of my dream bike, but since they were never imported to the US, I will likely never get my hands on one.

No pics handy - Glad I also dont have any of my wost faceplant (even with full face helmet). I had temp amnesia for a few minutes but made it home which was good because I was alone with no ID. The bikes bars still aren’t perfectly square with the wheel … my wife might say the same about me.

Had -
1970 Honda SL100 (got as gift, road everywhere for a few years, sold for car)
1974 Honda CB450 (traded car for bike + cash, decided commuting on I5 in LA traffic was crazy & sold)

Have -
1978 Honda XL250 (barely used when found, mostly used for dirt/jumps - wrecked - repaired, still runs, don’t ever plan to sell)
1986 Honda XR600 (bought new, has maybe 50 hours on it, plan to sell someday)

Borrowed -
Too many to list. My favorite ride of all time was my Uncle’s spare ride - mid-60s Honda 305 scrambler … sucker was fast and nimble - well, back in the day. >)

My daughter has had a few scooters and parts bikes that I’ve enjoyed playing with, but they’re almost all at her place or gone now. I think the Passport may be ready to cycle back around again if she doesn’t just sell it - like that one. She sold the China scoot and the Honda Elite 125 (one of my favorites).

Oh, still in our garage is a Honda Express II scooter put together from two parts bikes that my daughter got. The repaired bike took a little over $200 in parts and that’s what she got for Christmas. This one is blue to go with her yellow and red.

I had one of those too, mine was orange though.
Pretty fast bikes being two strokes, for their day.

The RZ was derived from the RD.

As it does in many sports.

Started riding at 16 in ’06.

I’ve had:

’79 Yamaha FS1-E DX
Yamaga TZR-125
Honda CG125
Yamaha XZ400 (POS blew up after I’d had it 35 miles)
Honda VFR400 NC30 (loved it, but not practical for commuting)

Got:
Yamaha TRX850

I’ve had the TRX 4 1/2 years. I think this year is do or die for the bike, really. It doesn’t owe me anything but I haven’t really used it for the last 18 months.

You cant get rid of the TRX. My wife has squealed at me the last 14 years of registering mine with barely a mile on it yearly. I havent heard of the XZ400. Was it a Jap import? I had the 550 for a few years. It wobbled around every corner without fail.

I might have to; can’t hang on to these things forever. Mine is currently buried in the garage of my neighbour. The trouble is that mine probably isn’t worth that much in it’s current state, but there is nothing really wrong with it either if you know what I mean.

The XZ was a jap import. It weighed an absolute ton. I think I would have enjoyed owning it, though, had it not lunched it’s self. I paid £300 for it and sold it for £100. Only motorcycle I have sold for a loss.
