Impressive Pulsar. KX80?

yeah, that was my 97 kx80. my 92 rm80 had way more nut, but also blew the.motor every other week. was tweaked to the max. it woukd eat wrist pin bearings, stretched rods, melted pistons... the thing was a beast. but the kx had a nice smooth powerban, where the rm was all bog then balls to the walls.

Paid $800 for a ’76 GT750 w/17,000 miles about 10 years ago. Invested a few hundred in parts and now it looks and runs great!

Mine shows it’s age more than this pic but similarly it’s all stock. Last year, it got 1st place in a local car show that included bikes.

Like all the bikes, especially the Yamaha RD350, basically same engine used in the Banshee quad and Suzuki GT750, water buffalo. Really want one of the old two strokes but anything with more than one carb can be a pain to work on. Will get up a few pics this weekend, too cold here at the moment to take pictures.

Here’s my recently sold Honda VTR1000 Firestorm

And its replacement, the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird

What an astounding machine the Blackbird is. And scary. I love it.

a pre-owned Honda CBX 125 custom (identical in condition and color to this pic):

She gave me my first taste of the easy rider style and a sense of freedom like no other vehicle. Cos her handlebars were still narrow enough to allow me squeezing her between cars to make it all the way to the front of a queue. Pretty frugal on gas and repairs she was! My main issues with her were leaking oil, intermittent breaking of her main-stand axle and faulty starter motor. Despite her idiosyncracies, she was memorable enough to make me grin with nostalgia. I learned the importance of trouble shooting problems with tenacity and commitment in repairing faults. Got me into reading the ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance’. So I like to remember her as my mobile premarital counsellor…In fact, I had given quite a few gals pillion rides on her as well!

the rd 350 is an air cooled motor. my mom had an rd400 when i was a kid. the rz 350 has the same motor as the banshee, just different gearing in the transmission and a variable valve system.

the rz 500 is kind of my dream bike, but since they were never imported to the US, I will likely never get my hands on one.

No pics handy - Glad I also dont have any of my wost faceplant (even with full face helmet). I had temp amnesia for a few minutes but made it home which was good because I was alone with no ID. The bikes bars still aren’t perfectly square with the wheel … my wife might say the same about me.

Had -
1970 Honda SL100 (got as gift, road everywhere for a few years, sold for car)
1974 Honda CB450 (traded car for bike + cash, decided commuting on I5 in LA traffic was crazy & sold)

Have -
1978 Honda XL250 (barely used when found, mostly used for dirt/jumps - wrecked - repaired, still runs, don’t ever plan to sell)
1986 Honda XR600 (bought new, has maybe 50 hours on it, plan to sell someday)

Borrowed -
Too many to list. My favorite ride of all time was my Uncle’s spare ride - mid-60s Honda 305 scrambler … sucker was fast and nimble - well, back in the day. >)

My daughter has had a few scooters and parts bikes that I’ve enjoyed playing with, but they’re almost all at her place or gone now. I think the Passport may be ready to cycle back around again if she doesn’t just sell it - like that one. She sold the China scoot and the Honda Elite 125 (one of my favorites).

Oh, still in our garage is a Honda Express II scooter put together from two parts bikes that my daughter got. The repaired bike took a little over $200 in parts and that’s what she got for Christmas. This one is blue to go with her yellow and red.

I had one of those too, mine was orange though.
Pretty fast bikes being two strokes, for their day.

The RZ was derived from the RD.

As it does in many sports.

Started riding at 16 in ’06.

I’ve had:

’79 Yamaha FS1-E DX
Yamaga TZR-125
Honda CG125
Yamaha XZ400 (POS blew up after I’d had it 35 miles)
Honda VFR400 NC30 (loved it, but not practical for commuting)

Got:
Yamaha TRX850

I’ve had the TRX 4 1/2 years. I think this year is do or die for the bike, really. It doesn’t owe me anything but I haven’t really used it for the last 18 months.

You cant get rid of the TRX. My wife has squealed at me the last 14 years of registering mine with barely a mile on it yearly. I havent heard of the XZ400. Was it a Jap import? I had the 550 for a few years. It wobbled around every corner without fail.

I might have to; can’t hang on to these things forever. Mine is currently buried in the garage of my neighbour. The trouble is that mine probably isn’t worth that much in it’s current state, but there is nothing really wrong with it either if you know what I mean.

The XZ was a jap import. It weighed an absolute ton. I think I would have enjoyed owning it, though, had it not lunched it’s self. I paid £300 for it and sold it for £100. Only motorcycle I have sold for a loss.

Why are all of you on the street? Come on, grow a pair  and take it to the track with 40+ other riders and 80 ft kickers, whoops, sand sections, ruts and carnage!

Indulge yourself and post more of them. We cant have to many bike shots.

What's a motorbike? I've only been on two wheels once and that was because I was trying to see if I could do one of those car stunts where they run on two wheels. Good thing it was a demo derby car.SurprisedTongue Out

Pictures or it never happened. :cowboy_hat_face:
I never know with you Mr OL’s. You are always full of surprises.

The Yamaha has been sold since this was taken and a few others have been added to the herd.
Enjoy!

Later,
Keith

I’ve had this KZ 1000 LTD since 1978.
I have a broken 1984 TT600 Yamaha in the garage too, I think it’s got a bad valve — something
is hitting the piston and I haven’t got around to pulling the motor.
