SupFire M6 by Mountain Electronics, RMM's #1

Different driver, different reflector, everything about it is different. I’ve modded the SupFire M6, a SkyRay Kung and SkyRay King all at the same time, the King and Kung were VERY similar but not identical, the M6 is a totally different beast.

You didn't deny what I said. Same size driver, same size reflector, same size lens.

SRK clones already use different drivers, so it doesn't matter if the M6 uses another one so long as it's the same size. The first M6 group buy had the reflector changed out to a standard SRK reflector, so it's not different, just different in this batch.

all emitters make light, for the most part, so I guess they’re all the same as well.

The 3 lights I had in hand, and tore apart, were vastly different…so much so that it seems ludicrous to imply they’re the same or even similar.

I’d not have a King/Kung if you were giving em away. I’ve been trying to get my hands on an M6 for a while now. After working on about 250 lights, this fact alone speaks volumes. Immediately after modding the M6, I contacted SupFire and got on board…I was that impressed with their fit and finish. I just didn’t get on board with the M6 due to the insane shipping costs.

Uh, okay. SRK variants are very similar, but so vastly different it's ludicrous, and are and are not variants because they use different drivers. Wut? I can't make heads or tails of your point, but I'll agree that this M6 is a better light than the real or clone SRK's and SRKung's.

Like I said, they all appear to use the same dimensions as far as the driver, lens and reflector goes, so that creates a lot of modding options. AR lens, BLF "SRK" drivers and a 6-7 emitter reflector is on the list. I might even try swapping the tailcap with another SRK variant.

I wish Supfire let us buy just the driver alone… so I can put it on my other SRKs

he said in one thread the modded M6 would be $70, i think.—-
but i guess that was a ballpark figure.
he does good deals so i plan to get one depending on price.
i like the driver.
does he sell just the driver ??

The driver in these is his custom remote switch FET Qlite.

it’s threads like these that cost me $. I was unaware that Richard offered this light! Is there any way for me to ‘unread’ this thread?

Just saw this thread, there is indeed seven modes. In my head it had always been six and that's what I had convinced myself of but it's really seven.

Also, this is an XM-L2 light from the factory.

My opinion, the M6 is the best of the "soup can" lights, so SRK's and M6's are both soup can lights in overall form factor. Maybe using a generic non-branded term like "soup can" is better?

ordered!

The King/Kungs I’ve seen are indeed cylindrical in form, like the proverbial soup can. But the M6 has a larger head diameter than the body, or am I remembering it wrong?

I’ve got a spare driver, need to take a look at it…

Also, isn’t the M6 a triple XM-L while the King/Kungs are Quads?

are there Beamshots to compare stock / modded?

Yes - soup cans come in choice of LED's: 3, 4, 5, 7 (maybe 6 too?)

Maybe we can call it "3/4 18650 parallel battery soupcan size" flashlight....

I`m with TomE.. its quite easy to understand, maybe DBCstm is just giving you a hard time.

The M6 has a larger head so it more resembles a standard flashlight. It’s also deeper with more complete reflectors in the triple configuration, while the reflectors in the 4,5,6 lights are very cut up and shallower.

a quick steal off a google search to show what I mean

I don’t have either light, and it’s been a while since I modded the 3 simultaneously…I’m very forgetfull…probably don’t even remember what my point is, other than that I like the M6 much better than the King/Kungs.

And for the record, I was also slow to learn that’s not a serial number on the M6 but the company’s phone number, in case you are out shining your light and want to make an impromptu International phone call to order a few more…

<—-sneaking back to my corner now

How about the warrior?

sorry for going too much off topic... :p

How about 'multi-emitter, multi-parallel-18650, side-clicky, flashlight'

The warrior does not qualify as a soup can - it's too purty for that classification (in case you are not aware, I'm the official classifier... ), and all those blue buttons and lights? way too much classiness goin on there.

I got 2 M6's now and one FandyFire SRK, and head width are the same, so reflector width is the same too I believe. The M6's height is mostly from the tailcap bump, but it's head does extend a little lower. It's way too close to an SRK to be classified differently. Internally - yes, superior in several aspects.

I'm done -- no more on the names please!

I do think Richard is gonna be overwhelmed for the modded M6 requests. Basically at these prices, he's selling parts and doin all the labor and testing for free. Awesome light and deal....

I was just looking at the M6 driver and am intrigued. It’s got 3 mosfets, one for each channel/emitter, and essentially an ATiny13 or what appears to be so…the top is scratched clean of writing.
There are 4 bays for resistors in each channel, with 3 having R056 resistors in place. Looks like it’d be pretty easy to bump it significantly without changing the driver, which is indeed what I did to the one I modded before and it’s pretty much a beast as I recall, with a start value around 4000 lumens. (need to get verification on that)

So could the mcu simply be swapped out with an ATiny13A that’s been flashed for use with FET’s to get a more desirable UI?

Could the existing mcu simply be flashed with our newer Star firmware?
