Looking good Match! Simple and innovative as usual. Great job with these novel ideas for mods! Frontpage'd and Sticky'd.
the trick is always tinning and lots o flux .. and having friends who work on electronics for a living (back up)
This light weighs almost a pound and a quarter 600 grams . 4 times heavier than a
solarforce ,18650 and a drop in > 150 grams ..
I'm always amazed how much D cells weigh.
3 for $20 deliveried that is to the guys in the US - not so luck for us Aussies :(
Yeah, and now they're sold out. Gosh, I wonder how that happened? That's alright - I'm a patient guy - I can wait.
Hi Match, how is your woot's light part 2 coming along. We are all waiting for some copper porn. Thanks in advance.
the apperance is not good
I'm wondering if a C8 reflector will fit into this baby.
Oh bugger... I have totally missed the deal on these!
Would have been very, very nice to be left in a car as backup...
Part 2 has been done for awhile now, but I've been (and still am) on vacation so it'll have to wait till I get back. I'd be too tedious to post from my cell phone :)
Thanks Match. Have a nice vacation.
Looking forward to part 2. I love these types of mods!
I LOVE these flashlights as I ordered 3 from the last time Woot.com had them for sale. They are no longer on Buy.com, does anyone have any idea where I could get similar lights? Thanks in advance!
I dropped one of these lights, pretty hard on concrete and it no longer lights. Any ideas on what to look for? I looked at the circuit board as best I could and found nothing that looked cracked. Thanks!
Instead of looking with your eyes look with a mutimeter. That way you see whats up
I guess what I meant to say is this: I've scoured over the circuit board and found no cracks, is there a trouble area with cree lights as I am new to them. Also, is an impact a known killer of cree LEDs? Like I said, I am new to them. Yes, a multimeter is a great idea and I will do that come to think of it.
Thanks to this thread, I fixed my light. I found that the impact had cracked the solder connection of the capacitor. I did the modification and honestly I'm not seeing an improvement but it could be battery related. Thanks again!
Could someone verify I did the mod correctly. I thought I had to jumper out the R5. When I went to do this R5 came off the circuit board all together. I soldered a piece of wire in where R5 used to be. Now that I look at the photo again, I'm seeing something different.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I tried to mod my “Woot-Lite” and now it doesn’t work. Anyone have a better picture of this mod? Also, can anyone recommend a replacement driver and emitter for this flashlight? I also searched for part 2 of Match’s mod, but can’t find it. Thanks!
At the top it says the pill takes a 20mm star and 18mm driver, so that’s pretty much any led option (reflector opening allowing) and an 18mm driver (possibly 19mm sanded to fit?).
An example would be an xp-g 20mm star and a 1500ma (1.5a) capable of using two nicad cells (1.2v - 3v). Hope this helps.
