Ervin's try (2nd. Annual BLF Scratch Made Light Contest) update 6/23/2014 finally beam shots of my new thrower

So which tube did you decide on? Just when you think you have seen it all with hand built lights theres another just as unique as the rest of them comes right at you. Looking real good.

In a way I think the hand made category has an advantage in not being limited by what a lathe can be made to do. You don’t use a hammer on a lathe but I use mine all the time. Used it today in fact. Anyone want a 75mm aspheric lens with 100mm focal length(all that’s left of my magnifying lamp)?

Time forced me to stick with black one and not experiment further.

I am looking forward to it, I can’t wait to see beam shots. Great work Ervin.

scottyhazzard beam shots are ready just started to update

post 2 again updated (how tiresome this days are only us that are building and fighting against time can really know :stuck_out_tongue: )

Amazing Ervin. You have one extraordinary clever mind with a talent to build what you dream. I'm speechless really. What an effort.

Awesome copper braiding you did there! Your build just makes me smile from all the effort, original ideas and the attention to detail.. and great big old mess on the desk. I love it. Keep it up :-)

The amount of work you have invested in each and every part in this build is truly amazing. Scratch built and then some. BRAVO!

thank you ALL
post some small progress in post nr. 2, but too tired to finish all, however i posted again the link with all the photos for the curious.

This is a challenging build. I get the impression you are struggling with how you want to continue. That is where I have been on mine and your build looks much tougher to execute.

Best wishes. Keep chugging along.

Keep grinding Ervin, it’ll be worth it. This is a fantastic build with magical paraphernalia overtones that needs to get finished.

Coffee is my friend Ervin. I'm sure he's willing to be yours as well.

I like the open look of the head without any covering, more like a magical scepter or talisman.

A very peculiar build !
Where’s the box? You’re not in it.

@ But ehrm… i can’t even properly load your first page as it’s chucked full with LARGE pictures.
After half a minute of downloading at 500+ kbps i gave up.
Tried it yesterday, Firefox gave up… @

update in post 2 and three, finally complete and beam shots(have some cosmetic work still, but from now on i consider it 100% functional)

Jerommel i understand there is a big problem now in my first page because is very heavy in photos, i remove some from my old updates and added some more to updates and don’t know how it is right now. if it is worse than please tell me i will try to delete more. this build (my first one from scratch) take me an imaginable amount of time energy and work in this 3 months so the amount of photos putted here barley reflect how the build progress in reality and for removing photos i am in difficult situation now.

about the light i think to call it ‘SYRI’ . it looks like an big eye when you look at it in reality and in my language the eye is syri .

Congratulations Ervin. Glad you found the pesky short and really like the change in optics. It’s even more magical. Incredible throw!

thank you. it throw surprisingly well, and that make it my preferred toy right now  around 400Klux from an led WITH dome is something that i am enjoying really and for the first time i am thinking to not dedome. when a led go dedome it have a more soft light. it throw more the lux are there and the light meter see it, but the effect you see in the beam is not that spectacular compared with cooler light that have dome. the particles in the air reflect more light that come from led with dome, its little bit difficult to explain with words.

Bravo! Very impressive build and that baby can throw. For some reason when I visited this thread this last weekend, I was under the impression you were still early in the build. Now there are a ton of pictures and it is clear you have been very busy building.

I really cringed when I saw that picture of you drilling that section of tube between your legs.

Congratulations on what has to be the most intricate build in this contest.

Again, Firefox quit on me scrolling through the OP
It may also be my computer, which is 7 years old and tired of me…
This is just too much for it…
