Surely everyone has some of the Photon 2 clones.

I have had one for over a year now and i still havent changed out the battery.....it gets used off and on.

They are also handy when the pull tabs on zips come off. I've never bothered replacing the cells in them - just get some more. I have a box of ones with dead cells waiting for me to think of a use for all those LEDs. The numbers did go down a lot when i tried to make one of those 100 LED showerhead things but got the wiring wrong. LEDS do not smell nice as they burn out.

Next time i go too my parents house im going to see how many leds i have in my box.....going to try to make a small night light when the power goes out.

Brilliant. I think you might be a Scotchman. ;-)

Good place to start was this guy's recipe for building lights that clip to the top of a 9V battery. CPF Link

Worse than that, an Aberdonian. As in "Why does a 50p coin have seven sides?"

A "So you can use a spanner to take it out of an Aberdonain's hand"

Cool, like a poor man's Pak-Lite.

Took me half an hour to dig out that old thread. Think I still have one somewhere - lots of fun to be had with what other people throw away.

I didnt even think of that......An asian version of a pak lite indeed.

i have a real Photon micro like, back in the day when i got it it set me back £12

I expect to get 40-50 of them for that price. OK the Photon is probably far better made, but.......

that was when then came out first though you couldn't anything that bright for much less..

I now remember someone saying he'd spent £20 on a blue LED light about as bright as a glow-worm. They've certainly got cheaper and brighter.

i have maybe a 10 yr old photon X, it really has a useful and powerful UI and a lot of features
even some features that flashlights do not have, like variable freq blinky
ramping, momentary OR on/off mode selection

handy for keychain for sure

I keep a Battery Junction freebie on my keychain and have for 6-7 years. Never accidentally turns on, coin cells last a long time and are easily replaced and they output enough light to do basic tasks.

If I lose it, I don’t care, as I have others.

That’s funny. I think that’s how we all use our lights.

I have handed them out to Trick or Treat’rs

I don’t think I have any functional samples. Haven’t carried this type of light for several years. No lights on my key chain.

Everybody should have one on the car keyring.

Cost more than the bloody lights…(freebie givaways)
They probably one of the most practical item a person can carry on themselves.
