I had no idea they still had firmware issues. I just read a few threads over there. I knew they had some problems initially, but guess there were a few ongoing bugs. I’m on my second Armytek, because the first one began behaving strangely. Good thing is that IS (Illumination Supply) took care of me. Funny thing is it stopped acting up by the time it had reached IS, but they sent me a replacement anyway. I sort of feel bad and wish I had taken a video of it, but reading some of those threads makes me feel a little better. I really like the light, don’t get me wrong, but if you stuff that many things into one UI, there’s bound to be a few kinks to be worked out.
To be honest I don’t care so much about the lumen claims. Comparing it to other similar output lights showed me it was close, so that’s good enough. If I was modding something or was a lumen freak, it might be an issue. The Wizard Pro is plenty headlamp enough for me, although I wish Firefly 1 didn’t have visible PWM. Too bad they aren’t offering a fix for that.
Mine acts up occassionally and I have to loosen/tighten the tailcap to get it going again. Annoying when out in a dark paddock! I got mine direct from Armytek so it would need to go back there at an exhorbitant Australia Post rate. I believe the updated V1 firmware was supposed to fix the immediate issues but it was the being dicked about waiting for the elusive promised V1.5 that upset people. Last time I checked it was still unclear exactly WHAT would be my repair options if I went through the long and expensive process of returning it now. As I recall, some users sent back their Wizards and waited for many, many months before finally giving up and getting a V1 update instead.
I still like my Wizard Pro, and when it is working properly (which is most of the time), it's great. But the temperature issues reported are definately more of a problem in the hot weather and the indicator not functioning as specified is a drag. The version released for sale was definitely inferior to the tested sample in this regard.
It's weird; they were so responsive and prompt with their feedback during the early development and testing but then it's like they dropped off the face of the earth and didn't want to know us. Armytek have a successful history of producing "fully stuffed" UIs - you only need to look at what the Predator offers. It just seems as if they took a "coudn't really be bothered now" stance this time, instead, stringing us along for almost a year and then finally deciding that near enough was good enough before dropping the project altogether in favour of more lucrative endevours.
Well I don’t know what the procedure is for sending the light out later on down the road if I have an issue, but I hope I don’t have to send it to China. I’m finding out with another light, that sending things to china is like sending something into a black hole. Mine does a weird mode changing every now and again, but turning it off and then on again seems to work it out. I think maybe one day I’d like a predator, but I’ve more than blown my light budget for the near future. Plus I have a few other lights that kind of fit in the Predators style of light, although not with quite the UI. Thanks for all the info.

well said. I always thought Armytek was name that was trustworthy. Ha. So many disgruntled users out there and well they should be. The delay of the updated version. And these last (2) offerings, the Tiara and now this one. I have a Tiara and it is a wonderful light in my opinion but what is up with whomever brings the specs to market?? Absolutely mind boggling to me. It’s been wrong, wrong, and wrong. Don’t they care? Appears they don’t.
I'm still very keen to get a Tiara Pro, possibly several, but without a viable local distributor I just won't risk another round of potential issues until I'm convinced that the company has sorted themselves out. I'll be waiting for the online reviews to come in and taking note of how any problems are handled.
In the meantime, I'll probably have to look elsewhere for a AA headlamp for my nephew. Probably a Spark SD52.
Found this late, almost got a Tiara Pro but got a Crelant CH10 first. Nice light, works very well. Gave it to my wife and now use a Nitecore HC90. The Nitecore is easier to adjust with a slide control, the Crelant has dimming via an extended press of the e-switch. Both work, but the slider is much more to my liking. The Crelant was much much cheaper though!
Still watching ArmyTek’s Tiara Pro and some of the little companion lights. Like their style…

Some of you have already tried something really advanced and exceptional. We would like to give this opportunity to others. That’s why Armytek decided to prolong the release of Partner XM-L2 Limited Edition.
Maybe it’s your last chance to get Partner XM-L2 – a reliable and durable device, which significantly differs from other pocket flashlights. Customized with brighter XM-L2 LED it gives you even more power – striking 700 LED lumens (1x14500 / 1xR123).
Just ordered myself two warm tint Wizard headlamps today! I hadn’t seen this line before, I only knew of the Wizard Pro models but I am pretty happy with these standard wizards. I don’t use moonlight or strobe modes and I don’t use lanyards so the standard wizard seemed perfect.
I see that the Tiara has a new style of tailcap that has a lanyard loop. Please sell something like that separately for the Wizard Pro so all your old customers can have a chance at getting this feature. Don't force us to buy a new light to get that. I can't speak for others, but that kind of tactic pisses me off. Selling accessories like a tailcap with a lanyard loop would make me very happy, and I'd be recommending the Wizard that much more.
