Who can build a Damascus Light

Hello All,
I’m new here but I like the atmosphere.

I’m looking for someone who would be willing to build me a custom light from damascus steel I could furnish. I’m somewhat new to the flashlight world so it wouldn’t need to be something super fancy or high performance, just to showoff the damascus. I’ve been carrying a Streamlight ProTac 2 AA for a while and I’m quite happy with it, if that gives an idea of what I would like. I can make the bar about whatever diameter we need. What I’m thinking is send you enough steel for two lights. You would build two and keep one for your self and send me one. If you have the machinist skills and don’t think that is a fair deal, let me know what would work for you. I’ve been making steel for some of the vape guys for a while. I clean up the bars on my lathe but I’m a machinist / fit and finish guy by no stretch of imagination. And I haven’t learned enough about lights to be ordering parts. It would be a solid round piece of tool steel. I have photos in a Shutterfly album but not sure about posting links in my first post here.

Member Mr. Bulk over at CPF did them long time ago. maybe someone has one for sale and you can upgrade it to the new led technology

That’s a beauty, but for my EDC I would like it to be made from my steel.

Try contacting members “Mr.Bulk” or “Data” over at CPF to check if they are still in business another member that comes to mind is FiveMega or Elektrolumens.

Thanks, I will if no one here shows interest.

Also try from CPF photon fanatic. Heres a link to his home page.

He does some unreal work.

Google
J.Hanko
He makes some insane “Timascus” bezels and bodies you might like.
Hope your budget is “not a consideration”

I knew Data, hes the guy who built the “Databank 70” spotlight panel. ( a light that used 70 XR-E emitters with Aspheric lenses to build a massive thrower. He is well known for great machining work.
I do a lot of lathe and machine work myself, but never have tried working with Damascus steel before.

I’ll point Bucket to this thread and see if he want’s to take you up on that offer.

Otherwise, I second Photon Fanatic for outstanding work. He made the Ti light that is my Avatar. Love it! I know he makes Ti Damascus, Tungsten, just about whatever. But he “works for money”. So your budget will have to be substantial in order for Fred to do it.

Thanks for all the replies. Budget is a consideration that’s why I propose a trade with someone who has a different skill set.

DenBarrett, Please, PM me if you think it might be something you would try. The limited machining I’ve been doing is pretty easy. Not seeing any problems related to the material. I ship to Canada often to my best blade stock customer.

PM sent.

Answered, Thanks!

Just curious... What'd it cost if I wanted to get in on one of these lights? A compact 18350 or 18500 size, p60 size reflector....

I always liked dimascus steel, never owned any... If possible to get in on this, either of you feel free to pm me

+1

I feel a groupbuy coming… :stuck_out_tongue:

edit: Well, not groupbuy like we normally think of ’em, but “a lot of people wanting to buy the same thing” may be starting here.

What about sinner? He’s done some custom hosts in various metals (Sinner Customs.. Tri-EDC's and more. (SOLD OUT)).

Yeah, hadn’t seen that. Those are some sweet hosts.

Bucket and I are talking. Thanks for all the interest.

I’ve been told it’s Ok to post a links here, so here is the steel we are talking about

and if you want to browse my site Google my name and damascus

Nice looking Damascus Matt!

Very nice looking.
