DQG 26650 Triple Generation II Pocket Light coming Soon

Yes thanks for shortening the off times however 2 on and 1 off is still convoluted. I can’t see any disadvantages to mixing the old and new interface for:

-short click on
–1 second hold off

Mode changes and turbo will still work fine. You’ve added a shorter off time (good) but made the on unnecessarily longer!

Along with a doubling of turbo, what are the other major improvements from the previous version? Because I can’t really see a reason to upgrade otherwise. Also, I hoped that you would make a more prominent button as it’s simply very difficult to find in the dark.

Of course it’s your product and you are welcome to improve how you please but as an owner of the current model, these are my only issues with it. I’m still a huge fan of the format and one of my favourite lights!

I think i like the longer on. Ive had the original 26650 triple light up in my pocket countless times. I stopped carrying it, locking it out was hit and miss and took several turns to be effective against accidental operation.

Switch is waterproof, we add O ring inside. And will attach a glow-dot on the switch button. It will help find the switch in darkness.

Hi Ric
how about giving a discount for those who already buy the first generation?

Nice.
Gen 1 is one of my favourite lights.

Nice mode spacing, and the emitter on copper is nice (gen 1 did not have a copper base?)

(this is not just about the new version) How much less output would this light have with a single XM-L behind a suitable TIR (better beam profile, narrower head, cheaper build) driven at the same current? ;-)

(answer: I don't know exactly, too many factors involved to calculate, but my guess is that it will be close)

Ric rarely answers questions here, he just uses this forum as free advertising.

Thank you ric, i can’t wait to get this now.

Too bad your efforts to stuff in more emitters didn't work. I hope the price for the actual version is a lot lower than concept.

I personally HATE any “hold to turn on” delay and see no point in it as long as a light has a good mechanical lockout available. When I press the button I want the light to turn on immediately. I also do not like a instant on where you then have to hold the switch for some time before the light stays on when the switch is released like the Solarstorm T3 and T4 are. Such user interfaces are to me DUMB. At least for the turn on function I want instant response. Fumbling around with time delays and holding switches for some time are distractions in an emergency situation.

1/2 second delay for on and off would have been better but I am really looking forward to this little gem of a light!

Same with others, I prefer 1/2 second, but 1 second still better than version 1.
180 seconds on turbo vs 30 seconds. Now waiting for the final price and may be additional discount for promotion

Gen 1 is one of my favs…

Gen 1 Gen 2
On Momentary Push 2 Second Push
Off 2 Second Push 1 Second Push
H2O No no no! Water-proof (glowing) switch

Does that sum up the difference? Did Gen 1 have copper?

I’m prob not going to make the jump. As much as I despise the 2 second ‘off,’ a 2 second ‘on’ might be even more frustrating (How do I turn this thing on? versus How do I turn this thing off? from my wife).

What is the configuration of the LEDs in there? If in parallel, doesn’t the Vf of the G2 level out around 3.25? So why the boost driver? I honestly don’t know, not trying to be snarky.

Oopss… +100

I have the original, and the only problem with it — a significant one in my experience — is that it gets turned on easily whether in pocket or pack or hanging on a belt hook. I’ve been trying to come up with a rotating shield for the button. Maybe mine’s just unusually twitchy.

Is there a retrofit to put an O-ring under the switch to water proof the Gen1?

Nevertheless, it’s my first choice to grab at this point, to take out any time I need light outdoors.

Ditto.
I turn the tail to lock it out, but this means 2 actions to turn it back on.

Hmm there must be some way to hack the on off durations ?

Ric is behind development, so he probably could get that changed, but there's no reason to do that if you guys are going to buy it anyway.

The Gen1 has LEDs in series. This is the only single cell boost driver I know of that will do that (it will also run a single MTG2 from a single 4.2v cell, of course, but there's no way to fit that combo into the Gen1 host unless you just make it a mule).

I won’t be buying this one, i can’t see any major improvements besides turbo. Have I missed something?
