Very floody light?

Need a very floody light to explore big underground very dark places. I have several

xml P60 lights which I use for the moment, but I wonder if one of you guys could

recommend any of the new 1000+ lumens xml-lights for the purpose: Not a shrower

but lots of flood and spill.

Get a mrv clone with XM-L such as the 24usd at manafont and remove the reflector. Put back when you need a rather throwy light. :)

This https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/3223 is very bright in flood mode with a very even spread without any rings but not so good as a thrower but does give you the option.

Might be a bit too big given the OP's likely use. But the Yezl XM-L zoom in flood mode might be just right and pocketable.

EDIT: Not sure about the MRV suggested earlier. I don't own an MRV but if the lens is held in by the reflector then taking the reflector out may be a no go.

Yetzl xm-l zoom has amazing flood.

Just did a quick ceiling bounce test and the Z1 looks about twice the brightness of the Yetzl with both having a similar size beam width.

The problem with the flood to throw lights is that you lose a lot of the light to the optics/mechanism. If an XML p60 isn’t enough, and you can never have enough can you, I would say one of the triple XMLs would work great. OP says he wants 1000 lumens. You are not going to get that from a single XML zoomie. You will not get that from any single XML, that I know of, but you will come close enough that it doesn’t matter.

The three XML certainly lights up a huge area really brightly but run time and heat might be a problem.

Take any light and diffuse it and you'll have flood. I suppose one of the 3 XM-L lights diffused would be what you are describing.

I thank all the posters for their different suggestions. Some of them I have been around

myself. I think a 3xXML are high on the list now. The volume of light will be great and I

can live with the throw, it must have, as a bonus. A diffuser may be an advantage also,

even on my present lights.
