New @ Manafont Ti Finish Skyray 3 XML and some more

Titanium Finish 3 Xml @2.8A

Black version

1 mode 2AA Ultrafire

1AA

2.8A, not sure what that means.

Also it is some 10mm wider for the head diameter than the previous versions. Hmm.....

Guess it means it draws 2.8A on high....it also it has 5-modes only, I guess that's why it cost $10 more than the recently released model 4000 818 that is 3-modes :)

The reflector(s) is bigger than the previous ones, should produce more throw.

The reflector is deeper as well as bigger. I compared the pics, they are not the same.

But then probably the throw would be the same as the DRY, the DRY gets there by sheer lumens. Too bad about the $67 price.

slowly encroaching on the tk70...

2100, good catch on the reflector. Although larger than its previous iteration, I wonder if the small increase would net enough additional lumens to be noticed by the naked eye. 2.8A to each emitter and the larger head surface to dissipate heat would be a most welcome improvement if the rating holds true.

black version here.

Eventually we will make it to [toilet plunger] flashlight

Funny, I just came across this light today as well. I was wondering if was in fact a different model and the body is clearly different, including reflector size. So I'll get better throw out of this one, huh? But yeah, too bad about the price. I declined the DRY because of the $75 price tag, plus shipping. I have to set an individual limit on lights if I'm going to make it a hobby.

Guys, the dropin itself, should be completely different than the previous versions.... not only the reflector. Hope it is threaded desing

Yeah flashpilot, the flashlight is also about 20mm longer than the old one and the 818 one. The 850 tube is same length as 818.

But they are funny, if they want to do an upgrade, they it with such a small step. I am sure the trouble needed to adjust the tools is not small.

But remember, 55mm dia (DRY, well driven @ 3A) -> 100mm diameter (Tk70 driven at 3A) = 30k -> 90k. We follow the inverse square law. Like 40mm reflector of C8 vs 55mm of STL-V2 (latter is deeper as well) is about 19k vs 48k.

I don't think it is 2.8A per emitter, more like 2.8A at the tail. Since it is regulated, plus driver eff losses, that would mean like 6A when battery voltage is low. Even IMRs would break a sweat.

Maybe they will do a mothership called the 888 which has a 90mm diameter. Money mouth

Wish they'd just offer the dropin... I'd mod it into a Mag host.

Rich

Looks like the on the road X5 in design.

Doesn't fit in a maglite. <-- 52mm. plus no heatsinking for 20w power anyway.

do you mean the fandyfire stl v6 or the fandifire stl-v2?

i understand most of these companies just copy each other or maybe they are the same but the fandyfire company could have come up with a more original model number xyz-v2. they did use the same name for the stlV3 so they must be the same company or there would be lawsuits going on. its probably like infinity/nissan, toyota/lexus, honda/acura.

I remember when i did the review of the Skyray stlv2 that i measured 60mm for the width of the reflector.

I meant the Sky Ray STL-V2/Fandyfire STL-V6, ok so they are 60mm. Yeah i remember i could not find a UCL lens because they only have 54mm and i needed 59.5mm glass.

I've been holding back from buying one of these 3 T6 flashlights since the release of the first SKY-RAY. I ended up waiting for reviews for every new model that came out and never getting any of them. Till yesterday I was thinking to get the 818 once it receives some reviews, but now, there's this 850. Personally I think it now got a bit too big and a bit too pricey, but you never know.. All I know is that I'm running in circles.

I had the same problem but I'm going for a DRY triple xm-l, it just has everything ahead on these sky rays

I don't blame you. It has gotten a bit pricey for the 850. It's not as if it is HA. If it is cheap then $50 is reasonable.

is it just me that cant belive people are still gambling with the sky rays ?

i wonder why people dont like trying the TR-3T6 constant current buck plus bost driver with a good screw in that will handle long run times.

you can buy spare driver if needed but you should not need it Triple T6 Cree Circuit Board Driver you can use the cail cap switch, bezel, glass lense, o-rings and extention tube from the TR-1200 if you damage the light externaly

there is two modles

TrustFire TR-3T6 Triple XM-L T6 5-Modes Memory LED Flashlight (3x18650)

TrustFire TR-3T6 Triple XM-L T6 5 Modes LED Flashlight (2x18650)

you can run the light for 60 min's no worries but it might be a tad less bright but should give you longer run times
