287 lumen on an Efest 10440 IMR is what you usually get with these drivers: when they do not have to boost, it goes direct drive (with lower modes by PWM) and if the resistances in the electrical path from battery to emitter are not too bad the output gets towards 300 lumen. The cheap Ultrafire M5 does 300 lumens as well on the 10440 IMR (but is just 1 mode).
I did not know that I would get the updated version, that was nice, but what I liked about the old version is that the low mode was current-controlled with no PWM.
That is a pity. (I like to think it has something to do with this review of course, finally gives me the idea that I have an influence somewhere in the world, if only the stock supply of Banggood )
Thanks for the post sir!! I don’t think there are many reviews on it, I’ve being thinking about it for a real good while but the conflicting info were confusing me quite a bit. Some sites displayed it as a 3 mode but I was only aware of the older 2 mode version. I’m glad to see the improvements made, just wished the PWM was kept out and the firefly was kept in this version.
I don't know if this is the same one, but BG still seems to have this in stock got $17.89:

Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen! The one from HKEquipment is not the older version. I was about to buy it, but wanted some confirmation, so I sent a e-mail to them and as far as I understood the Lumintop Tool they have is the newer 3 mode version.
ohaya
I’ll try the e-bay store you suggested, I’ll report back.
The page said XP-G R5 when i bought the light from the OP, but still it was XP-G2. It would be sneeky of BG if they subsequently would sell an old batch.
I PM’d Neal. The special he advertised on our BLF today with coupon code is for the older 2 mode version. From Selfbuilts review on it, it can be used as a clicky, or a twisty from the head or tailcap Also, another user said if u do half presses on the clicky you can toggle the modes! Hoo-Yah!
IMO that is sneaky, he did not say that and it is a relevant thing with a new version available and already sold by BG! The new version has XP-G2, more output and a nice AR-coating on the lens, I think it is the better one. The only thing that is nicer about the old one is that it does not seem to use PWM on the low mode.
May I ask you where is the coupon? I looked over here but couldn’t find it.
I need to buy it whether from a person (not a store or company) or really cheap because of customs. Whenever I think I’ve found the 2 mode version it ends up being the newer 3 mode one.
Yep, that is sneaky if it indeed is the old model. I already bought one, hoping to get the new 3-mode version.
They also link to this review in their product description of the light - which leads people to believe that they might be getting the same light that is in the review.
