Costco 3 pack 4XAAA Duracell flashlight

It reminds me of the 4AAA “300 lumen” Utilitech from Lowes.

Anyone have the duracel zoomies from Costco that take 2 (or was it 3) C-cells?

No I don’t but I was at Costco a couple days ago.

Just before I went to Costco, I was at an electronics and computer flea market and saw the Duracell lights at a vendors table. He was asking $35 for 1 of the zoomies and $15 for an SK68!

I actually have a pair of the Duracell zoomies, they do take 3 X C cells….

problem with these lights are they will discharge by themselves, I’m returning most of them…

Good to know. My first cheap LED lights were a three pack from costco that had the same annoying problem. I returned them as well.

so anyone try to use 18650 in that 4aaa yet?
being resold by a major brand they are probably at least decent quality.if they can use 26650-18650 they might be worth looking at esp on sale/clearance!

Have two of them but from Amazon, not Costco. Not bad for the price though I have not dropped either of them. Per something I read they do not like shock. They are 3C batteries.

Crenelated bezel?

Almost no bezel at all. The zoom lens appears to be glued into the front of the zoom slider and the front surface of the lens is only recessed about .060”.

Got two of the three packs of the Costco 4 AAA lights on sale for around $14.99

Have only opened one pack so far… One light barely works, keeps shutting off or doesn’t work at all. The other two work fine. Took one out on a job I was doing… left it on high for about 15 mins and it shut down completely. Let it rest for a couple minutes and worked again.

Pretty bright for cheap lights, but needs some more testing… Good enough for general home use, I’ll probably test all the lights and return any that are bad in one pack. Keep the rest.

i assume they run 4s?
can you take one apart to see the driver?
linear, buck,or just a current limiting resistor?

They have them on sale again $12 for a pack of 3 or $16 for a 4-pack

anyone compared these:

  • Costco Duracell/Durabeam 300/350 Lum flashlights (4xAAA) ($4-5)

-to the Ultrafire Cree XML-T6 / E17 / G700 (3xAAA) ($4-$5)

I just saw that 3 pack at Costco today and couldn’t resist :stuck_out_tongue:
I sure don’t need them, I only got them out of curiosity. Besides, they are on clearance. That “7” at the end of the price means they are reduced in price. I think these were originally $19.99, maybe $14.99 Anyway, $12.97 with DuraCell batteries is such a deal.

I mentioned I didn’t need them, heck I still have a pack of 3 from last year that were 300 Lumen.

Both this years and last years model use the CREE XP-G2. I gotta say right now that as far as I’m concerned, retail stores have better lights for the money than ordering online. No chance of Lattice Bright emitters, better customer service etc. Only time to order online is for the more exotic lights.
Last years 300 Lumen light had a compound reflector, this years light is a zoomie.

The LED in the zoomie looks larger because of the lense. Both are XP-G2’s

I think it would be possible to fit an 18650 in either light, there would be room as there is extra space in the battery carrier in last years light and extra space in the tailcap of this years. Last years light would be easier though.

At my COSTCO at least there is an instant rebate of $4 on the 2 pack of DuraCell 3-C flashlights. 8 bucks a piece is a nice price for this light, and it includes the batteries.
$15.99

Thanks for the comparison of the 300/350 lights. I picked up the 350 ones, paid full price $20 but they dont seem to have a zoom lens.

I think you mentioned that “this years light is a zoomie.”
maybe I got the wrong ones.

I really like the 700 2-pack for $16. they really light up the building from inside and out, no matter how dark it is. Sofar didn’t find a flashlight that can outshine these.

look around here a while and you will find smaller lights that will beat the pants off of these.
$8 ea is a good deal and when you dont have to wait for the slow boat, get latticebrighted, ect its even nicer.
these have it in the value dept.
might be able to run 26650 with a spacer too.
anyone measure id of the tube yet?

Dcho,

Do you recall if the 2 pack was aspheric lens zoomie, or Maglite-like focusable with a reflector? There is no Costco in my town, but I know someone in a different town that might be interested in that deal.

I am no expert, but it seems to me it is focusable. checkout the pics

Zoomed in

Zoomed out(85%)

Do you mean inner diameter? Dont have a caliper on me but just using a tape measure it looks around 27-28MM. The C-cells are rattling a little bit.

cool.use 26650 with a homemade dummy and 3 c in a pinch

That's what I needed to know. Thank you caramba.
