Checking some old 18650 to see how badly they have degraded ..

Ultrafire Grey 2400 Protected from DX purchased March-2009

Doing a 1A discharge I got 1467mAh

Trustfire Grey 2400, unprotected from DX , purchased Feb 2009

Doing a 1A discharge I got 1488mAh

Ultrafire Red [ candy ] Protected 2600 , ?? almost 2 year old , 1670mAh @ 1A

Ultrafire Green [ candy ] non protected 2600 , same age as red 2600 = 1997mAh @ 1A

Eagletac , same age as above , 1903 mAh

Generic 2200mAh [ Came with L2's ] 1507mAh

AW2600 , 2415mAh [ about 2 years old ]

WOW18650 [ about 1.5years old ] 2454mAh

Trustfire Flame 18650 1 year 1month old = 1682mAh

Xtar 18700 [ 2200 ] 8 months old 2100mAh

Fireworm 3000 [ non protected ] Same age as Trustfire flame = 2042mAh

All @ 1A discharge

Really interesting.. It would be curious to check also not cheap battery to see if they degrade like budget cells or if the superior quality means also less degradation.

I have a AW 2600 which I will run next , but 2.26AM ATM , time for bed

I heard that the maximum life of these batteries are 5 years in the real world.

About 2 year old AW2600 ... 1A discharge = 2415mAh ... Thats not bad at all ...

Thanks for testing them old4570, I pretty much had the same results with my Ultrafire 3000's they where around 2200 when new and only a year later they where down to about 1500. They only had about 4-5 cycles on them and where stored at 3.7-3.8v.

I have herd quite a few people complain about the same thing with the Chinese based cells. It's going to be interesting to see how the Hi-Max holds up.

Would storage in the fridge be a wise idea?

If i don't use the flashlights for a while should i turn them on until the batteries are discharged to around 40% and then get them out?

Hmmm , is that Wow 18650 almost a year old ? ... Just checked , the Wow should be more than 12 months old maybe 18months ??

Will have to find some time to discharge it ...

my 3yr old AW2200 is still at 4.1volt discharge so i dont know how many mAh it still has left..

it's interesting seeing the long term results of these batteries. However since they've been through different usage patterns it's hard to compare them definitively. The main thing I gather from your data, is that out of the AW and eagletac 18650 (both of which have had little useage), the AW has performed better.

Some of the data from cpf, also suggest that the older AW perform better than older ultrafire li-ions.

I would love to see how the WOW has held up.

As far as I know they are a Chinese based cell. I opened one up and found no markings. I also tried shorting one out and it got to about 160F but never leaked.
