What blade did you EDC today?

I really like mine, the size is about perfect, it’s extremely light and I find the blade shape very useful.

Thanks!
I think it was inspired by the Microtech SOCOM line. It’s a new arrival so there’s no review as yet.

Where from? Ordered mine from midway, will be only my 2nd knife of 2014 (first was my P’Kal purchased in march). I figure this is gonna be one I rotate the P’kal out with, not a user cause of the steel.

Monday

Thanks, very sharp and pointy.

Today something totally different-

Spyderco UKPK with polished blade (CTS-BD1 is almost as easy to polish as H1), rounded and thinned spine and top jimping removed to make it more of a gentleman’s knife.

Nice mod. Looks like you were cutting it pretty close to the spider hole. Looking at the basic lines of your knife makes me want a Caly 3.

I’m wanting my first Spyderco pretty badly, can’t decide on the Manix 2 or Paramilitary 2. I like the DLC either way. Seem to favor the blade shape on the Manix 2 but the lock on the Para 2.

Any insights?

Manix2, the comp lock sounds cool but I’ll take the CBBL any day. It also rides much better in the pocket

I did notice the clip allowing deeper carry. I don’t have anything against the polymer cage (shot comp with a Glock 23) but I don’t know about the spring and possible defeatability of the lock from dirt in the field. All my knives are liner locks or mono-locks to date.

Thanks for the tip, was leaning towards the Manix 2 but didn’t know about the compression lock.

Buy.com(aka Raktucantspellthere new/old name).

Those are some cheap things. But I plan to DIY a V3N.

I can’t presume to know what your needs and likes in a knife are, but I’ve looked and held manix 2s, but could never commit. Personally, I find it way over built and heavy. This is just my personal opinion. Right now I’m looking very closely at the Spyderco Domino. The blade is the same “leaf shaped” and only a little shorter than the manix2, and comes with a titanium framelock. It comes with a flipper that operates flawlessly without having to apply pressure in just the right amount at just the right spot. Look at the new version with the blue weave carbon fiber grip as compared to the less attractive CF/G10 laminate composite.

I totally forgot about the domino. Just after they came out I had one for a little bit. Actually I used it as a partial trade on my Sebenza (I guess why I forgot about it so fast). Yes definitely a nice knife.

Top right with some other spydies and a 710

I might of liked it more (and possible not traded it) had I not had a Sage3 at the same time.

Love the “bill Cosby sweater” CF weave. I need to either get another domino or get a new Sage 3.

Really like the Domino, not sure about the blade steel. Like the flipper, haven’t had one before. Was looking to get my first S30V in the Spyderco.

I’ve been using ATS-34 from Benchmade and Buck/Strider and like it pretty well. Wanted to “step up” a notch.

From what I can tell, the Carpenter blade steel probably falls between 154 and S30V, would that be about right? Kind of a stainless D2?

Was trying to kill 4 birds with one stone…S30V, DLC, ball lock and Spyderco all in one fell swoop. The Manix2 XL in black. (keeping in mind that liner or frame locks are my favorite.)

(Was planning on getting my Ti Texas Poker DLC coated but Photon Fanatic didn’t have a batch going in at the time)

The Sage Ti Frame lock with full Ti scales looks pretty nice as well. Decisions decisions.
