Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

How about dchomak to dchomer?

Sure, that'll work!

-Garry

Hey dchomer, do you know if you can do the price checking from the Home Depot app to check for the $0.01 price? Or is it handled like when you try to look online - item not found?

-Garry

^ Good question. I think dchomer (you guys are nuts) said if it doesn't pull up, it's a hint it may be on the clearance path to eventual disposal. All ears over here.

Another question for anyone. I don't have a smart phone plan (I'm cheap that way), but my wife has several retired smart phones. Could I load the app on one and when I go to a HD, their WiFi will make the app work?

Yes, using the old phone with the app on wifi should work fine. I use my old iPhones that way around my house / property for streaming music.

Cool. Thanks Garry.

dchoman, dchomer, dchomak, etc, etc:

Garry has a good question in Post 68 above.

Why do I even check this thread?? I swear I can not for the life of me understand myself. I must like to be cruel to me. LOL

When the price is .01 the item is supposed to be off the shelves and no longer in stock. That means it should NOT scan with the app. That is a hint that it could price at the self check out at .01. But just because you find an item that does not scan with the app doesn’t mean that it will be .01. That item could be from a different clearance sale and could scan at the regular full price. Don’t forget that I haven’t got this figured out completely, just trends.
BTW, it wasn’t just the LEDs that could could be found for a penny. IMA4 and I found the set of 3 pair women work gloves, I found some of the 2.1A chargers and the digital timers all for a penny.
Here are some pictures of the items I got for .01 on Sunday and how they were displayed in the store. Remember, they all rang up at a penny.

As soon as I walked into this store I came across this empty table with nothing on it except for 5 of the 2.1A chargers and that socket. No signs, prices or anything!!! I scooped up those 5 chargers without even slowing down. Well, I did stop to shoot the photo.

This was in with the regular display of lighting, 6 or 7 bulbs.

These next 2 pics were way in the back of the store in a special clearance section,

Now a couple of surprises. I was sure that these flahlights lights would ring up at a penny. Price ended in .03 and the start date was the same as the bulbs. It rang up at 5.33. There were 3, I only took one for a test and ended up buying it.

More of the globes that I got for a penny in another store, this time they rang up for $12.97 so I left them. I am still puzzled over that one.

Obviously it’s due to global warming… everything bad is.

incorrect, everything bad is due to pathetic lazy poor people, if they would work 100 hours a week for $1.25 an hour then then everything would be fixed

Well, they claim the polar vortex and all the cold weather is a result of global warming

I forgot to mention all the Halogen bulbs I got for a penny. Many were 2 for a penny.

These Halogen bulbs are useful to me as the filament is short and positioned vertically inside the glass bulb.

Our house has these small light fixtures in the hallways that have cut glass ornaments dangling around the socket. These type of bulbs, with their vertical filaments and clear glass globes cast hard shadows and reflections and refractions on the cut glass. An ordinary bulb with diffused light is boring. I like the effect.

I think TP picked on Global Warming because they were globes Get it?
BTW, I am way beyond global warming in my outlook for the planet. We are doomed eventually, no question in my mind.
The ONLY thing that could save us is everything sold for a penny

but if we are overrun by zombies then home depot might experience 100% inflation

Hey! quit trying to raise the wages and cut the working hours of pathetic lazy poor people. And don’t you dare suggest cutting the work week back to 7 days a week or cutting the whips down to cats ’o eight tails. J)

Man, dchomak, you're on a tear. Congrats on all those scores. Just crazy.

EDIT:

Nice score on the below flashlight. Found them in a clearance bin but they ran up $16 at the Lexington, SC store.

That lighting effect looks real nice.

Here is an example of the price progression,
Yesterday I was in my local HD and once again saw this display of mechanical timers. I am not interested in the mechanical ones as I already pigged out on the digital ones listed earlier in this thread. These mechanical timers have been on clearance with a number that ends with “3” for just about the right amount time. I suspected they were ready to go to the here after, so I snapped this shot. There were cases of them, and they were not selling.

Notice the price progression, from 7.97 to 4.97 to 3.86, (ends with a “6”) to 1.33 (ends with a “3”)

Then one day later, today, I went by to check, just to see what was going on and I came across this!

Here is another example of something that was on clearance with a price that ended with “.00” and was changed to a price that ends with a “6” Only 4 cents cheaper, but I think it means it will be further reduced to a number that ends with “3” if it doesn’t sell.

Notice the original price of 24.97 reduced to 9.00.

I brought it up just to see what it would scan at.

It happens that it is missing a tap, so I wouldn’t be interested. Well maybe if it went to 3.83.
DEFINITELY if it went to a penny.

I swung by my HD tonight just to walk around dchomak style looking for possible penny items or items to keep an eye out for and I saw many with weird prices (i.e. not a "3" or "6", but a "4"). Found nothing that interested me though. I can post picks tomorrow or so (my photos won't show until tomorrow anyway).

Edit-BTW- many items scanned in the app at their full regular price.

5 c defiant light (one mode, good length for adjusting attitudes) http://www.homedepot.com/p/Defiant-5C-500-Lumen-Alkaline-Flashlight-809-3751-D/203838454?keyword=5c+defiant on at the Campbell CA store at $5.66! Woot!

Haven’t taken it apart yet to see what the pill is like, but 6 bucks after tax? No-brainer.

This time for a penny

Cheapest I was ever to find was $12!, was it marked 5.66 or did you scan it?

It was marked $5.66… they had them stacked at every checkout, so you knew they were serious.

And I’m super-jealous about your worklight finds — I’ve been looking and failing everywhere local.
