Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

They were pitching this 12V drill and driver pair with 2 batteries for $99

This is a very good deal as the cells used are the 2AH cells. One pack is rated at 2AH, the other is 4AH. So you get one of each. Deal includes charger and bag.

They are not on the floor yet, you have to ask for it at the desk. I picked one up this morning, of course used my HD card to save an extra 5%

I have the 12V Ridgid drill and like the smaller, lighter feel of it. Unless you are doing some real heavy duty work, this is great.

I almost forgot, register this tool and there is free lifetime battery upgrades and tool replacement.

Nice find. I'm a fan of Rigid's tools. They are present in some of my build pics.

I price checked a few items today that you have purchased for a penny. They were at "3" prices like $1.53, etc. They rang up at the posted prices. The dates on each was 4/17/14.

I was at a HD that I last visited 2 weeks ago. I went around looking for clearance items that had stickers with a 6 or 3 as the last digit in the price with the date of at least 3//14. Anything newer than that at this date (11/01/14) has not had enough time to go from 6~~3~~>.01.

this first light was on clearance marked $18.00 down from an original of 19.97.

The date on the sticker reads 3/19/14, that is plenty of time for further price reductions. It is a florescent fixture with a cheap vinyl globe, I’m not really interested in it unless it rings up for a penny.
So I brought it up to scan.

I was right, it has gone down twice more since the original markdown sticker of $18.00., some unkown price that ends with “6” and the current price of 5.03. Based on the date on the sticker, this could go to a penny at anytime. If I really wanted it, I would keep my eye on it, there were 5 on the shelf.
Here are a couple of items that did ring up for a penny.

There were also some cat6 jacks that rang up for a penny, they were loose on a shelf with no price but i suspected that they were also part of the same clearance as they were part of the same line of Leviton stock. I was right.
And a surprise, I found 1 more MR16 LED. It was marked at $20.97, but I recognized it as one of the ones that previously rang up for a penny.

All in all this is what I was able to pick up for a total of 14 cents, trouble is I have no use for any of it.

This is not an exact science, here is a pic of a light that ends with a “6” with a date of 12/13/13. The 6 suggests that it should have gone to 3 by now, in fact been removed from the shelf. But there are about 10 of these and they ring up at $12.06

Wait a minute! I saw at least one of those Philips MR16's at my store. Think it was marked $20.97 as well! Guess I'll have to check again!

Stopped at my local Home Depot to look for those Philips MR16 bulbs. Here's what I found:

Oh boy! About 6 or so on the shelf still marked $20.97! Maybe I finally found a penny deal! Walk it up to the self-checkout for a price check:

DOH! Rings up $20.97!!! Guess dchomer and I are in different Home Depot districts or something!

That's typically what happens to me too Garry.

I want to believe that dcho has a special field around him that warps time and prices. My rational mind says that maybe the stores he frequents move a lot of high margin product and they can afford to clear out slow moving items as deep discounts.

Maybe it's a combination of the two. Dchoman, do you notice if people act differently once they enter your bubble?

Sorry Garry to have gotten your hopes up.

ImA4 may be right, I did find out my power doesn’t work in Rhode Island. :~

So much for your plan to take over the world.

There were none of the new flashlights on my last trip 10/30, but there were empty spaces on the shelves perhaps in preparation for new arrivals.

Don't talk that way. You're just having a temporary slump. I was wrong to say that. Some jerk probably sprinkled kryptonite or something in the store. Stay strong, we need the dchomizer!

Actually my plan to take over the world is based on my accumulating a stock pile of FREE Harbor Freight DVM’s.

Because when I get enough, resistance will be futile

And i thought it was based on buying out Home Depot’s entire stock then opening a competing retailer who will win the franchise wars and will control the world’s supply of lighting and other hardware supplies, using artificial shortages and super pac donations to bring the masses to their knees :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s plan B

an excellent plan if i do say so myself

In post 91 OL mentioned that his HD had brought out the Holiday lights. My HD just set up the displays yesterday, here are the pics.

I just saw those in a HD here, too. You beat nme to posting photos. The 51 LED light seems slightly redesigned, bigger button and a more curved head. I picked up a 2-pk of the 3AA lights, they're much brighter than last year's 3AA Utilitech's from Lowes. They have no driver, just a resistor mounted on the star with a contact plate on the other end of the hollow pill.I don' recognize the LED, XP-e size but not Cree, I think. It as a forward clicky, seems pretty serviceable for the average consumer, good to throw in the car for emergencies. The 18500's fit fine with a sleeve. Unprotected 18650's barely fit but the tailcap doesn't close completely. It has large springs on the tailcap and contact plate, though. If replaced with short springs I think protected 18650's might fit. The plastic lens seems to snap into a recess in the head so I don't know if a good replacement can be had. Other than the lens and pill it would make a nice $5 host, the body is nice but just painted I think.

Looks like they put a 579 sticker on them?
Model is PolySteel 600
Maybe the ANSI cops busted them
Anyway, remind me of a Solarforce with rubber coating.
Their web site says 3 mode, so that is good.
4 AA’s for power so they say;

Just noticed it is a zoomy :frowning:
Got too many zoomers. Oh, hell, who am I kidding?, I have too many everything!!

Thanks for all the pics, looking forward to the after holidays markdowns.
Already told the wife I want HD gift cards for Christmas.
Later,
Keith

I saw this on slickdeals. To sum it up for you, you have to spam the promotion code with some hexadecimal version of the coupon code and you might get lucky enough to snag a 6-pack of the now old version cree 2700K 60W equiv bulbs for around $20 shipped in the US. Code starts CREE6XXXX and then 4 values of something. They only work once and don’t transfer, so only try if you want to buy. In theory you are probably taking a unique code entered into the system that belongs to some target customer of theirs.

I’m do not condone the ethics of this, or know if it will be cancelled, just passing it along.

A 4AA zoomie, huh? That may have to end up in my stocking this Christmas.

HD got back to me on the bulbs that the employee had refused to sell for a penny.

They didn't give much details on the process. What they did say was consistent with what dchomak has reported to us in the past. They basically said that the product market to a penny is supposed to be pulled off the shelf, but it can be purchased at a penny if it is on the shelf.

They were mostly concerned about getting me matched up with some of the product they currently sell that would meet my lighting needs.
