Itp has to be way more efficent lumen for lumen , But with an edc it’s almost always a question of which light I like better physically .runtime isn’t much of a concern for me on an edc since it’s always catching a fresh battery …oops I jus noticed you’re asking about a AAA vs a AA… I’m changing my vote to the tank light …AAA’s just don’t cut it
Dont have a 14500 IMR , but have a few 14500 , will test some more ..
PWM with 14500 = still slow
Lumens = Light box and light meter ...
I did the calculations a long time ago , and verified several times .. But still , to be used as a general guide ... Not Gospel ! [ To many variables ]
Could we fix the PWM on the next batch? I think getting that fast would be something everyone could agree on... except for people who want to throw strobe action dance parties with dark-adjusted eyes on moonless nights away from city light pollution for really long times without needing to change batteries... to each his (or her) own :)
Very nice, Ian! It looks like the switch is a hair thicker on the new one as well as the pill being substantially thicker. I like it.
Does your old one have the Osram emitter? the new one looks like cool white at least in comparison to the old one's neutral to warm emitter. I was hoping the new one would be the same color as your old one.
How are the modes on the new one, especially the low?
1. Item cannot be fully threaded when loaded with AA batteries even my shortest battery unlike my old E07 version. This will even have greater problem in using 14500 batteries.
2. The tint of the Led is cool white(leaning towards blue), expecting neutral. (My old E07 with cool white tint looks warm compares to this)
3. Mine have a very annoying electronic buzzing sound in the tail cap. It also have a PWM and buzzing sound in the head. two buzzing sound is too much. (the tail cap buzzing sometimes is not present).
4.BLF edition was really hot after 5 mins while the old version is only warm. the old version is noticeably brighter on high (old version is single mode so compared on high).
Currently testing the light comparing runtime on high with the old version.
Jim from Manafont is currently investigating this with tank, hopefully mine is just an isolated case. Don't want to see disappointed guys around here, I could be calm but others can't. lol. Will keep you guys posted with the outcome.
