MTN Electronics: LEDs - Batteries - Lights - Chargers - Hosts - Drivers - Components - 1-Stop-US Source

Bad news for your 2000th post.

That's a bad coincidence there! I just got out of a final exam too...extra bad. I'd better do a giveaway for my 2000th post to counteract the bad karma! I'll get on that tomorrow.

The rest of the parts didn't get sent on purpose. I guess that those guys are the only Chinese flashlight company who doesn't think that a host includes more than the metal body. They responded and said that none of those parts are included with the "flashlight hosts". I guess that technically they would be correct if the industry/trade usage didn't differ radically from their description of what a "flashlight host" is.

Well hell. They were looking all this time for some way to screw somebody on price, and finally did? sounds like.
I can’t find any other China source selling a host stripped like they did these.
All those ’oogle finds selling flashlight hosts do specify the basic hardware is part of it.

Can you sell them with us choosing whichever of the addons we want to pay for? — either with a NR lens and one-emitter driver, or with a triple optic and spacer and driver, and maybe a choice of switches to handle whichever power level? Bother, I know.

On the group buy lights I bought, both came with dusty reflectors and glass; I blew the dust out of one with canned air, and it looks like some of the “NR” coating blew off.
Then I tried a gentle wipe of the glass with optical microfiber cloth and it looks like more coating went away.

So I’d be just as glad not to have another of their lenses, I trust your choices will be better. I was going to order replacement lenses from you for the 2 lights I have anyhow.

Hank, these hosts didn’t come from the same source…not from Banggood nor from EagleEye. So it’d be rather difficult to surmise that someone was looking for a way to “screw somebody on price”. Hard to believe they shipped without the basics though, as has been said…it’s highly irregular and not standard practice at all. With a little luck, they’ll see the error of their ways and correct the issue.

Seems to me that speaking with one representative may not have anything whatsoever to do with what a different rep will tell you. Very strange way to do business but I have seen it like that a lot from over there. There seems to be a lot of competition from the employees themselves, each doing their best to outdo or undersell the other. Might be that something like this happened and part of the order got “left out” in an effort to “save the company money” and look good for a boss.

I'll keep you posted on what happens here. The price I paid was reasonable, so if they can get me the rest at a reasonable price it will be a lesson learned and we'll be back in business.

Thank you Peter. We definitely make our fair share of mistakes, but we do our best to make it right when we do.

There will be more of everything, including the SRK drivers, made available next Friday.

Hi there just wondering if my order status says complete does that mean it has been shiped out? Just not sure as I haven’t had a email conformation

So guys, it's probably been asked a hundred times, but I'm looking to build my first pocket rocket and need advice. I like the look of the S6 better than the S2 and S3, and I'd like to go 3-up. I'd like to get as much throw as one can out of an optic, so should I go dedomed XP-L or just stick with XP-G2? I don't use optics ever either, so I don't even know how the beam would look dedomed. I'll go with one of the drop in pills then and my first FET driver. Any advice?

Of course DBC had me eyeing the quad optic upgrade to the Eagle Eye X6, but I'm looking for my first EDC :)

Woot! I’m pretty sure I need a few things… especially drivers to test code on.

Depending on your budget and needs, you might want to look at the Cypreus as a host… titanium makes a nice EDC, and it can use a SF L2 clip.

De-domed XP-L will give you more lumens, and I hear the beam looks very similar to how it would look with XP-G2. So, probably better throw too. However, it makes the tint rather warm; mine is about 4000K. The optics can be expanded to fit a domed XP-L, but that costs lumens again. So, tint or lumens?

For the most throw, you probably want a 10507 or 10511 optic, optionally with the frosted finish buffed off the 10511. The 10507 has some pretty noticeable beam artifacts though, and will collect dirt in its crevices unless it’s under a lens. I prefer the smoother and floodier 10511 (especially for EDC use), but I’m not really into throw except on dedicated throwers.

No, status should be 'Shipped' once it ships.

Hi Richard, apologies if it has already been discussed, but will you be stocking the A17DD-S08, single sided FET drivers that wight has done?

Yeaaahhhh, I'm not even looking to spend that kind of money on the entire setup :) Thanks for the info on the XP-L and optics though.

I have both XPL and XPG - neither dedomed. Thinking of doing it with XPL but if color shifts I know I will not like it. XPG on the other hand is just plug and play...especially with any of the 17DD drivers.

Hi Caleb. Sorry it hasn't shipped yet, I have been at school way too much these past few weeks. I am working as much as I can at night to get the existing custom driver orders out the door, but I have been falling a bit behind.

Complete means that the order is complete. Your order status will change to "Shipped" when it ships and you will receive tracking information.

Order Status

cool thanks.

I will be switching to the single sided drivers soon, but I decided to try my hand at designing my own. I don't think mine are as nice looking as Wight's (he's an Eagle wiz and is much smarter than I am!), but I think they'll work great and aesthetic tweaks will come in the future.

17mm

And a crazy 22mm

For 2S+ cells, this driver can be powered with a zener diode, or with an LDO regulator for lower parasitic drain if you're using it with a 2S+ e-switch setup (with the LDO installed you wouldn't use the D1 pad or zener diode). There is also a spot for an on-board temperature sensor. For normal use none of that stuff needs to be populated though, which is why they are marked "(opt.)", so it can just be used with the normal parts.

And this one is a beta, untested board, with the goal of staying single-sided, but also allowing for higher efficiency in the lower modes along with a really low moonlight mode, while maintaining direct drive for the higher modes. I think it will work, but I've just ordered 3 of these for now so I can test it and make revisions before releasing it.

I think that there is room for improvement on all of these, but they should all work great.

You’ll also be selling just the mosfets like you do with the current ones? PSMN3R0-30YLD? Eta?

This. Exactly what I’ve been wanting for quite a while. As soon as this is available, sign me up!

FET, 1x7135, OTC, attiny13/25, and still just 17mm and one-sided!

Is there any chance you might use attiny25 on some of the drivers you build? As far as I can tell, the only drawbacks are no “picoPower” and a slightly higher price.
