More flashlight>>>>>

A bit cheaper here:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.39358

but still expensive.

I just hope those spikes on the bezel are removable. They will do odd things to the beam as well as being unnecessarily aggressive.

Everything is removable... the difference is amount of force to be used :)

True.

But it does help if it is still working afterwards.

Not that I'll be getting one since i already own a hard-driven SST-90 light. If I didn't, I'd be tempted by one of these that actually did push the 5 amps an SST-50 needs for full brightness - and with enough heat sinking to allow it to continue to do so without cooking the LED. The thought of cooking a $30 LED is not a nice one.

Is there more info anywhere? A review, maybe?

I would be interested in reading about one even if I can't afford it.

I'll write something up.

There are some pictures and comments on it here.

That is no budget light, for sure. Didn't stop me from drooling, though.

Red VP1000 - 5700K SST-50 - $170.00 includes Priority Shipping (USA)
Black VP2000 - 6500K SST-90 - $190.00 includes Priority Shipping (USA)

And actually worth it, if you ask this completely unbiased owner of the prototype of the VP2000.

It would be nice to read a review of this light. I like my WF-1300L so naturally i kinda want to buy this one too...

Main thing would be the driver. Will it deliver 5000mAh to the led as described so it would unleash true 1300 lumens ?

Since it is using three 18650s in parallel, the cells will have no trouble at all producing 5A. I don't know the forward voltages of SST LEDs but most white LEDs are in the 3-3.7V range. You could probably get away with some decent sized resistors to control the current. Since this is a 15-20W (5A at 3V is 15W, 5A at 3.6V is 18W) device the resistors need to handle that sort of wattage. 15W wirewound resistors aren't expensive so it wouldn't be hard to sort it out if the driver isn't that good. On the other hand that loses all regulation and you'd have to use protected cells or watch very closely for dimming. However, for $100 I'd expect a really good driver and a very, very well-made light.

The question is, do you actually receive a good one? I'd certainly want to see reviews before I spent that sort of cash.

This is Another review for Mihailoff from forum.fonarevka.ru
TrustFire X2 SST-50 4-Mode 1300-Lumen Memory LED Flashlight with Glass Breaker (3 * 18650)
TrustFire X2 SST-50 4-Mode 1300-Lumen LED Flashlight with steklobrekerom. What is steklobreker? On this later. And while the background.
At first it seemed unusually bright flashlights tridtsatipyatbaksovye diodes P7 as it faded and I wanted to do certain things better. And here in the spring, I stumbled into the DX updates on this monster that feeds direct from 3 batteries 18650. He told me once like in shape and size, and of course the stated characteristics. And I immediately decided that buy it. But the extra money for a long time небыло, and now finally on May 24, I bought it.

And as soon bought him three pairs of batteries (two sets) and one charger. Find a normal quality charger for 3 or 4 batteries I could not. In the end, I bought a charger for two accumulator, but with separate recharging. Ie can be charged and a battery, and two obsalyutno different with different discharge. Charging each accumulator is independently from each other. In general, I bought three pairs SKU 19770 and odny SKU 1251

Three days later the batteries and charger is already flying towards me and had long ago received. And he went into the flashlight out of stock and hung there for a long time. And finally on June 11 was sent, and 7 July, I happily received.

Arriving at the post office, I discovered that such an expensive flashlight with fragile parts in the form of glass was quite simply inserted into the usual yellow envelope, pre-wrapped pair of layers of red bumps film.

Yes, it is quite carelessly by DX. But opening the package and unwind film I saw that the torch has arrived to me safe and sound.

As you can see, dissected and examined the package, I immediately upon receipt in the car and photographed yablofonom. Doterpet to the house and sfotkat normal camera, I never could:)

What can I say, a flashlight is made soundly. Housing without flaws, backlash and clearances. All plump and qualitatively. At protivovodnost flashlight course is not intended, but you can call it all-weather with certainty. Rain, mud, dust and other things he does not boitsya.

Let us remember about the strange word "Steklobreyker. It's just Razbivatel glass (as well as God forbid people and animals) that are on both sides of the flashlight

And smash them anything very easily, because in running it weighs almost 800 grams!

If the flashlight unwind we will see edakii cartridge, which comprises three batteries in a thick cylinder, which is located behind the switch button, and probably feeding the driver. Batteries are connected in series (tested tester by me) and give some 12.5 volts.

The flashlight has 4 modes of operation. This standard Hi, Mid and Lo. Well, of course, "Gate", which is almost entirely in the dark at the time will bring down the enemy's eyes.
But according to the normal to experience a flashlight so far failed. Another very light. The apartment is in a bright room light spot from the flashlight is very well seen. It is bright and white. When at least glimpse catch myself in Diode vklyuchenngom state - that circles the eye provided at least 3 min.

Well shot of charger with accumulator into the bargain. Accum I signed what is poluzasohshim nail polish, that would not be confused sets.

In conclusion, I would say that the flashlight on the whole lived up to my expectations. Let's see how he later himself will tell.
And yet, the set is clearly not enough boxes. Such a powerful and not a cheap flashlight simply must be equipped with at least a cardboard box with foam inserts. Better yet, aluminum case and a set of accumulator with a charger. But strap flashlight swill is not necessary, because to pull 800 grams on the wrist would be quite inconvenient. That ring holster on the belt could be imagined. But .... This is so, thinking aloud.

Added later:

I made a small Video review. But I took off his camera. And the fact that I clearly saw with my own eyes on the video unfortunately is not visible: (
So just take my word for that perfect beam of light can be seen at a distance of 360 meters. And then I never left.

<object width="480" height="385"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vl1lIgokqis&hl=ru_RU&fs=1"> </ param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> </ param> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"> </ param> <embed src = "http://www.youtube.com/v / vl1lIgokqis & hl = ru_RU & fs = a "type =" application / x-shockwave-flash "allowscriptaccess =" always "allowfullscreen =" true "width =" 480 "height =" 385 "> </ embed> </ object >

Here are a couple photos from the balcony floor 7. The house opposite - perhaps 150 meters, to the asphalt - about 30 meters, may 35.

Added even later:

So, it is time for the most interesting - for testing!

First I will describe the test of time and heating on a single charge battery 2500 mah

I've included a flashlight at different time intervals, from 30 to 5 minutes and gave a respite from 5 to 10 minutes. Tested only in the mode of HI.
The first time I turned it on for 30 minutes. The flashlight was at room temperature. Then he became a little tepid. 20 minutes - Flashlight warm but not hot. Closer to 25 minutes flashlight was heated harder, to 30 minutes it became even hotter. Hand this temperature suffers freely without discomfort. Nevertheless, in my opinion all the same was flashlight goryachevatym and I gave him a break of 10 minutes. Measure the temperature of the body I have nothing, but I think probably 45 degrees there was, and maybe all 50. Approximately the same body temperature becomes malenkogno flashlight on P7 for 35 bucks after 5 minutes of work.
Next, I turn it on at different periods of time without giving very hot. All I worry that I'm the driver does not handle the torch and burn, and therefore did not violate his flashlight and gave respite. While it is possible that this is too much, and I just to play safe.
In total added up all the intervals of the flashlight I was only after about 1 hour 50 minutes notice that the brightness a little bit subsided. But the torch still shining very brightly, brighter than in the mode of MID. That is already more than 2 hours total stared and torch still shining brightly enough. So what the manufacturer claims that in the HI mode, he worked for a half hour fully acknowledged. Even more than that, this time closer to two hours.

Now davatye see some pictures of the light beam. For comparison, I took 35 baksovy flashlight P7 diode. Number of SKU can not remember, long buying it as a gift, and right now, just took it for 1 day for tests.

When darkness closed the curtains and sent rays of flashlights on the rack at a distance of 2 meters. Filming was carried out with 2.4 aperture and shutter speed of 1 second. Lamps abbreviated'll call 1300 and P7.
The first snapshot of 1300, on P7 and then both beams, left right P7 1300:

As you can see, the light beam of a P7 larger than that of 1300. As the brightness is difficult to say anything, from a distance of 2 meters in both beams are bright.
Then I went to the window and started shooting from the window. It turned out that the dark is not yet fully, but in principle already sufficient. Aperture 2.4, iso100 shutter speed 2 seconds. First of all photographs will go shooting without a flashlight, the second 1300, and the third P7:

Now let's make a conclusion. P7 beats wide beam and the light is scattered in all directions. It is more suitable for short distances. 1300 holds the opposite beam collected over long distances. Covers he objects strongly, but the area of the beam of light is less. It is more suitable for large distances.

Now consider how flashlights shine in modes HI MID and LO. The first three shots - a torch 1300.

Now P7 in the same mode.

Immediately noticeable that in P7 MID and LO modes are much loses flashlight 1300.

Now look just at the light beams of the two lanterns:

Finally, another series of shots. While I was doing tests and looked through the footage on the street was dark and I finally made another series of shots. Nastrooyki camera had to change and increase the shutter speed to 3 seconds. All previous images were made with exposure for 2 seconds. So, again, first without illumination, the second 1300 and third P7.

Again we see that 1300 hits a beam, and P7 scatters light.

In general, both good flashlight. P7 miniature, light and very bright. Perfect for small distances. But the distance is not bad punch.
1,300 hits compressed beam of light that does not leave aside and not scattered. It covers a greater distance than the P7.
At the same time, the brightness of their appearance is practically the same, it can be seen in the photo where the lanterns just lie on the floor. But a huge stone in the garden P7 - is heating. During the tests, it is extremely high. There were no alterations in it and did not heat it has a very bad. However, if heat is better - a body heats up even more. Winter is nice, warm hands can. But the driver carries the torch overheating badly.
So my verdict - 1300 stronger, more beats and a little heated. But P7 his udelyvaet melee area lighting.

Now second, no less interesting topic - parsing flashlights! At first I did not dare to do it, afraid that the realties break. But then everything still bored and decided to disassemble 1300 to the last screw. So there you go.
Unscrews the head lamp (see her two sealing rings), remove spring and flick of the wrist pulls the cylinder of aluminum alloy, for which the driver is hiding flashlight:

That's a big plan for electronic engineers who are interested in working on a chip driver. Read anything on the case of chip naked eye, I could not, so I just made a couple of shots mikroshemki. If desired, they can read its type.

Allen key 6 Turn off steklobrekety on the head and the key to 5 on the back of the lantern. Remove the top of the glass, Krasnen'ke sealing ring and just take out the reflector:

Looking to see the aluminum alloy cylinder head with two holes. Twisted it, picked up a long tool for holes (such as bolts in the elevators) and carefully remove:

The reflector is not directly contacts the aluminum platform, which hides the diode. The reflector is pressed to the plastic insert, which is superimposed on the diode from the top:

And here is the diode itself, which is so plump glued glue thermal conductivity:

Back disassembled even easier. Comes out the rubber button which is connected to the tabs on the rubber O-ring comes out white plastic and all the cylinder, a flashlight, pulled down to the bone.

Will all the same just in reverse order ..

And finally to show the interior torch P7, who participated in the tests:

To get to its driver is not so easy. We must make a special tool that would unscrew the cap inside the tube batareechnogo compartment.

Well, now I can say that the review is completed. If you have questions - answer with pleasure.

Verdict - buying content. But the pancake a little expensive ...

ps Here is a pancake after a long review has turned out! His steady wins the only true connoisseurs of good light!

The machine translation is interesting. I thought the pictures showed a Cree LED, but it is a Luminus LED mounted on a Cree board which is strange.

You can double the throw (at the expense of total output) by removing the dome from the LED. Once Flashlight News is back up, the information is to be found there. SST LEDs are internally sealed, removing the dome won't kill it like it usually does to Cree LEDs

If this is correct or even close, then this light is not definitely not worth of the price:

http://www.szwholesale.com/trustfire-4mode-lumens-3x18650-st50-flashlightfst50-p-3663.html

Look at the measured lumens, only 570 (integrating sphere measured lumens)

Has anyone tested how many amps are being pushed to the LED? That or tailcap reading?

szwholesale's integrating sphere seems to be extremely conservative - or reads way too low if you prefer. Either that or they only ever use cells at storage voltage, a.k.a. discharged ones.

The difference in output between this one and the 30 $ P7 light, does indeed not worth the expences. I might better put this money back into the drawer and wait for a flashlight based on the new MX-3 LED. They will certainly be easier (sup)portable as well.
