Cree XHP70 up to 4022 Lumens and XHP50 up to 2546 lumens - Multi-die leds.

The old Skyline I is now making 3046 lumens from 6.68A out of 2 Efest Purple 18350’s. Tighter hot spot than the Olight and far tighter than the X6. Still has a bit of an X in the middle, gonna see if I can dial that out.

This one I put the XHP70 on a 26mm MAXToch copper mcpcb. Cut a groove beside the thermal pad to narrow it down, filled the groove with Arctic Alumina Thermal Adhesive. When the AA dried, I shaved it off with an Xacto for an even smooth surface, then used strips of copper sheet to mount the emitter. The negative wanted to touch ground somewhere and I had to re-flow it, but after that it was fine.

Nobody has tested the XHP50 yet?

I think I’m going to plan a P60 with it. I was going to do MT-G2, but the XHP50 is comparatively cheap. I’m sure the beam will be hideous, but the overall lumen output should make up for it.

I put the XHP70 on a 32mm Noctigon to go into the Shadow JM26. With the DQG 6A boost driver intended for the Tiny Triple it runs on a single 26650! 2.64A at the battery, looping for the clamp meter from battery negative to ground ring on the driver.

Now if I can just get that donut hole out of the beam…

Wow, I think this is your third light you have managed to put a xhp70 in! Nice work.
I have heard people turning their reflecters op. Forgot how they did it or what they used. That might do the trick for removing that donut hole…

is there a good source for these XHP’s? i looked a mouser but its 20 euros shipping, a little (a lot) to pricy for me. or if a member is willing to sell me one (to europe), that would be great?

I think mouser is probably sold out. They had less than 200 and DBCstm bought all of them, I think.

I only bought 3. Killed one.

Just because an emitter goes in a light and gets tested doesn’t mean it’s got live in there forever, does it? :stuck_out_tongue:

I have 2 working XHP70 lights, the X6 and JM26. See? I left ya’ll a few emitters.

Edit: Just for that, I’m not gonna share how I put the XHP70 on the XP footprint in the middle of an 32mm Noctigon.

You’dbetterorI’mcommintovisit.

You and Foy’s army huh?

Have you stippled any reflectors yet? Interested to see the result.

When I tried stippling the reflector I seemed to have gotten carried away. It might surprise y’all to hear that I tend to overdo things. Shocking, but true.

I’m filled with disbelief.

I raised the reflector above the emitter and it’s got a decent beam profile. I did this by putting a silicone o-ring down for the reflector to sit on, then I can tighten or loosen the bezel to squash the o-ring to whatever height I want (to a point) Sitting just above the substrate gives a decent result in this big pretty smooth reflector, there is some garbled bright spots in the hot spot but not an x like before or the nasty dark donut.

Too dang cold for a beamshot but …

I didn’t want to cut on this big nice reflector any more than necessary, so I just notched it for the corners. In the end, I didn’t even have to do that as it would have sat above the substrate anyway. Live and learn.

So, with different reflectors coming as well as an optic, I’ll need to get another XHP70…this one’s found a home.

Too cold for a beamshot? Can’t be that cold in Texas. It’s only 3 degrees here in Michigan. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll take your 3 degrees and raise you –15 windchill

And I’ll raise you –21 windchill! (–35 yesterday).

For Texans, or anyone who has lived here for a while, it's damned cold! Long lasting cold spells here do lot's of damage and no one is ever prepared for it here. Especially the ice storms.

I haven't gone back to work in the shop since the first 21 degree night and I ain't gonna go in there till it thaws.

We don’t get that cold very often here, thank goodness

Funny, It could have been me who made this statement.

I just got the Ledil Iris optic from Mouser. It comes with a black housing and looks like it’s a perfect fit right into an Eagle Eye X6, no modification necessary! With Cree about to get copper MK-R 20mm stars for the XHP70 (this coming week) this is a fantastic way to bump an X6 into the 3000 lumen range. Hot spot is decent, only the very slightest hint of a dark spot in the elusive white wall hunt, and it looks like it was made for this set-up!

Ledil Iris, Cree MK-R 20mm copper star, and the XHP70, perfect combination.

The Ledil Minnie fits with it’s holder using the triple spacer. It’s a nice beam profile as well, maybe even a bit nicer than the optic. But it adds the cost of the spacer or on the other hand it allows more heat sink mass. Win win.

I was born here in Temple, 111º the day I was born and I’ve liked it hot ever since. Me and cold disagree with each other. 36º and raining, with the threat to drop into freezing and have sleet and snow later today. YUCK! Everything will be ice coated and then peppered with sleet. Wrecks all over the place.
