Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

I’ve gotten 8 penny items in the last week. I’d say it’s absolutely doable without dchromak’s searchfoo

I struck out 4 times today. 3 times in CT and once in NJ but tomorrow is another day. On our way to D.C.

Darn snow stopped me from going anywhere here in ohio :(

Where in Ohio? I hit the store in Ashtabula last month.

port clinton, once i get the hang of it ill go to more HD stores

Well I struck out on the HDMI adapters, found no penny deals, but did get some "deals":

Gonna give this cable a try. (Sorry for the bad pic; it was tough to get it due to the reflection of the light.)

These timers are all over the store on clearance. I bought one of the one on the left.

I picked up one of these just because it was interesting and only $2.52. Oh, and those same ol' same ol' Phillips MR16 LED bulbs are STILL marked at $17.00 in my HD's clearance area! In fact I didn't spot anything with a "3" price (other than the cable above) that was worth checking on a "penny deal". I also saw a lot of yellow clearance price tags with no dates on them. When I did see dates they were no older than December 2014.

I think I’ll have to go check again… I could definitely use a vga-to-hdmi adapter, and if they have any of those Philips bulbs for cheap that would be helpful too.

I had to run to the local HD today (which usually isn’t great) to grab some flat steel to fix my jeep’s seat. While I was there I came across a light fixture that I knew had been marked with a .03. It was unpriced and buried in the clearance section.

Sure enough it rang up for a penny. So if you see these in your store, grab them.

XJ, I have never noticed those, I will be on the lookout.
On the same note, here is a score of an oldie but goodie that was mixed in with the current stock. The cheaper worklight that has gone from full list to 3.04 to 1.52 to .01. It looks a lot like the current worklight that HD has that sells for $11.47. Here is one I found in a box of the others. I can recognize it as is not fully enveloped in a clear acrylic package.

Side by side with it’s replacement. Rang up for a penny.

Here’s a couple of other things I spotted. Recently, 01/01/15, JonnyC posted about the High CRI Bulbs at 6.50 and 7.50

Well the other day I noticed that they have been reduced another 4 cents. What’s important about that is that this means that they are now on the reduction spiral, their priced and amounts that end in “6”
With a date of 11/19/2014, it will be a long time before we see a lower price that ends with the “3”

Here’s 2 items that should go to a penny any day now. With dates of 07/03/2014. Even though the remotes are priced at 15.06, right now they will ring up at 5.03. The store is definitely not on the ball on this item. I figure this will go to a penny on or about 01/23/2014

^ That Phillips light just the left of the camera and above your hand. Got one of those for a penny a month or so ago. It's a remote phosphor type light and puts out a pretty pleasant tint and even light.

Well then, looks like I need to take one up to scan! It could be that I missed one. Actually I’ve seen those many times before but I never knew they were cleared out, nor have I ever checked the price :open_mouth:

I struck out again on penny deals in D.C. while we were there, but I did get this 70piece screw driver set for $2.52.

Before our trip I got these 2 deals locally.
The 28 piece combination wrench set was $12 abd goes from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch, 6mm to 18mm
Also included in “stubby” lengths is 3/8 to 5/8 and 10mm to 15mm. This same wrench set was offered last year and eventually was reduced down to $12 at the very end.

The twin 100 pack of Stanley blades, Made in the U.S.A., total of 200 blades was only $5. I happened about those as I was in the store carrying the wrench set. A store employee came up to me a told me they see me in there all the time and would I be interested in them. I said sure and he went overhead to bring them down. I bought all 7 packs. I am spreading them around to friends etc. Also I plan on rounding up all my knives and filling them up too. (I probably have 25 of them in use). I always have 3 or 4 within arms length, because when a blade goes dull it’s easier to just grab another knife. I periodically go around and change all the blades at the same time.

Those are some great deals in you last couple or so posts dchomak. Hoping to find a couple of them next time I hit a HD. Would like to find that light xjsnake scored too.

Update to my last post. I hit two other HD’s today within 10 miles of where I got the light fixture. The exact same fixture is sitting on the shelf at @ $29!

So at both stores I went up to see if perhaps I’d struck gold and the fixture rang up at $29.

Just goes to show how individual some of these deals are to certain stores and how general others are across stores.

Are you sure it was the same EXACT light? Sometimes there are slight variations to color or finish of an item and one will be cleared out, the other not.
I did have that same experience with that parchment globe awhile back though.

ImA4, I checked out that bulb you mentioned. My local has plenty of that type bulb but they are not a penny. :frowning: Maybe yours is different? Or maybe this is another example of what XJ is pointing out?

^ Everything on the front cover looks the same in every detail. My discount tag is $23.06 with date of 4/15/14..

Bar code on the bottom of the package. Text above it is:

PROOF OF PURCHASE

Number below bar code is:

This happens sometimes. Many of the penny and great deals posted here are still full price items when I get to one of my local stores. Usually, the items are just not there to be found.

EDIT: Fixed typo (bolded).

I’m 90% sure. I will be back over that way sometime this week. I’ll compare the SKU’s this time.

For some reason these 106 quart storage containers ring up at 2 different prices. Although they are identical in every way except for the lid color, the blue runs ring up for $4.54 while the white ones are $15.47. It’s not the lid that goes with the container that sets the price, it’s the sticker on the side of the container.

After searching the stock in 2 local stores I was able to find 7 of the “Blue Tops”
There were only 5 blue lids, but that’s OK, I just grabbed 2 of the whites. Remember it’s the sticker on the container that sets the price.

And why would I NEED 7 106 quart storage containers, other than to store all the other crap I get from HD?

For a reconfigurable, 3D kitty maze!

Good day Dc, which code rang cheaper, thanks

i presume its the one ending in 84. Thats really a good deal. will check late today…

Yep, you figured it out.
I just hope someone else hasn’t already picked through them.
