Cree XHP70 up to 4022 Lumens and XHP50 up to 2546 lumens - Multi-die leds.

So the depth of that light in the critical area is .3 rod and 1 stick. 1/2 a thread later we’re still stacking peas. :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s right of course.

Trying to do it with a tape measure got me this. Reflector is 40mm wide by 36mm deep. The depth is by eyeballing it but it should be close.

EDIT:
After looking at the dimensions of the XHP50 Iris (38 mm x 28.5 mm) and XHP70 Iris (38mm x 28.1mm) , I might have to shim the MCPCB with some copper. But that wouldn’t be a bad thing.

EDIT 2:

Hmmm… should I go for the flood or throw?

Before I got my calipers I used a piece of silicone wire or a string, then just hold that up against a ruler. Works fine in a pinch, but I’m glad I got the calipers.

You would use imperial sticks rather than metric. |(

Too true.

I got another flashlight that has a 50mm reflector. I didn’t remove the reflector and measure it but I know that the MCPCB will have to be shimmed up with copper to reach the opening. But this does look interesting.

Well, the English system, for measuring distances less than an inch is more advanced. The metric system is based on the arbitrary and cumbersome base 10.
Fractional inches on the other hand is based on the negative powers of 2, it’s binary!

Hmm no. The metric system is the only valid measurement in science worldwide. Imperial units are very imprecise. Its just that you are used to them.

Imperial is better because it sounds cooler than “metric.” Case closed.

Just ordered 40 Copper DTP 20mm XHP70 stars from SinkPAD. They are making a 6V and a 12V version, I got the 6V. Should see em by the end of the week. They’re sending me some DTP Aluminum stars to test against as well as some XHP50 stars.

Very nice lady, Deannae. Easy to talk to, very helpful. Has even been here looking for information, ready to build some lights her own self!

Will let y’all know when these arrive. I surely don’t need 40 of em!

Would be nice,
if you can send me 5 pieces .

Regards Xandre

Great purchase, Dale, I would not mind 4 of these too :-)

6V copper DTP XHP70 MCPCB’s, oh boy! I think I might like to get my hands on a couple of those guys, Dale. Let me know when your ready. I think I’ve got just the build in mind.

Will do, they’re $2.50 apiece. I had to meet a minimum $75 order which I was told is 40 boards. She’s sending me some aluminum samples as well as Cu/Al samples for the 50.

Now if I can just find the emitters in stock somewhere…

AND, the XHP50’s will be here end of next month. :frowning: Oh well, I’ll have something to play with for a little while anyway. lol

Might have to spend some time pulling my rigged XHP70’s out of lights and putting them on the SinkPAD’s. Then I can test all over again and see if there’s any viable difference with the proper pad.

Anybody seen any real leads to the XHP70/50 leds or copper stars for sale at "regular prices and amounts"? Like 2 or 3 or 4, instead of a bunch? Any word from Hank about his stars or Maxtoch about the 26mm ones?

I haven't been keeping track and probably won't be able to for a long while.

DBC has I believe some MKR stars coming and has them for sale.

RMM stated that he has some bare and mounted to copper on the way.

From Hank at IO?

He didn’t say where they were coming from.

I have 40 SinkPAD XHP70 stars coming, they were supposed to have shipped yesterday…so maybe tomorrow? Cost me $2.50 ea. and that’s what I’ll sell em for.

Richard ordered some of these from SinkPAD as well.

Edit: I’ve been snookered yet again! I was told they had a $75 minimum, “about 40 boards” and I was told they’re $2.50 ea. I never actually did that math!!! I should have 30 coming. I don’t need 30, of course, so will be spreading the majority of them out…
