XM-L Color RGBW Flashlights

XM-L color on 20mm can be as low as $7.5/pc (no bulk required) if you know where to find. I cannot comment on the driver as I do not own one. $24 is still a good price as every come pre-assembled. No need to waste time figuring up the wire configuration. That breaks down to $9.65 for the host (including assembly fee).

FWIW I haven’t seen them for less than $8.39 shipped. eBay listings have them for $7.40, but with $0.99 USD shipping. The only reason I mentioned RMM’s ‘unshipped’ price was because some buyers may combine orders from that shop.

I’m tempted too but I already got a host coming (sitting in customs in Chicago) and have plans on a CK driver. Besides that, the credit card bill came the other day and the Mrs isn’t too pleased.

Maybe I’ll snag one up in the future after one of you gents do a review on these.

These really look good! Beware that you get the XM-L colour in it, I found exactly the same flashlight with a generic chinese RGBW led ! And one with a MC-E colour (but that one is actually not so bad).

I'd be curious about how the driver is build, the drive currents and UI

if its xml its good deal.

Does anyone have links to RBGW zoomie reviews, build threads, etc? I’m liking the zoomie a little more now that I think about it, but I’m still not convinced.

How to differentiate a real CREE from Chinese version?

Oh you’ll know…

Those are quite easy to identify. Same format as their UV led.

The description on says both models have 30mm lenses. If that zoomie is close enough size to the TrustFire Z6, then maybe it can use the AHorton 27.2 mm aspherical lens. We wont know until someone buys it and does a review for us.

Now who is going to be our Mikey?

Grrr. If I don’t get one then I have to explain why I’m sitting on all these ahorton lenses… :frowning:

This is a link to a build tyread of a MC-E colour in a sk68 that I did two years ago, the fun is essentially the same as with the XM-L colour (I know because I made a XM-L colour zoomie too, but never posted about it). There's even video in this thread :-) :

Don’t think about it too long. The Chinese New Year is approaching. I would order one but I have to wait until the next credit card cycle before I can buy anything because the Mrs thinks my flashlight addiction was getting out of hand. :open_mouth:

In the mean time, I got several tracking numbers to check every day to keep me occupied.

@ Alex - a couple of zoomie XML-Color builds

my TF26650 with 30mm lens (just screwing around, not a flashlight I use for anything) LED candle: trustfire 26650 zoomie xml color

Matt’s HD2010 aspheric (using my driver and his awesome machining in a non zooming host- fully focused all the time) Red, Gree, Blue, White hD2010 Woot!

@ everyone else, I have requested review samples of both, I sited my collection of RGBW light’s as why they should let me review them, I believe it’s the largest collection of RGBW light’s anyone has (here and at CPF). I have 14 at last count, about 1/2 and 1/2 stock vs. my own builds.

BTW, tho it wont be tomorrow or even this week (or next) I will be releasing my RGBW_Clicky FW soon (as in by this spring) and the driver has been open source since day one (it will also operate on Mattaus’s 7135 based 17mm board as is), I’ve made some changed to still retain a proprietary aspect for my own builds but the version I plan to release has the main white modes (with red moon mode) as well as the 3 individual color ramps! The source code will be released so anyone (who get’s setup with a $20 PICkit3 and some blank 12F617’s) can mod it to their need’s. with the final color spectrum fade and stunner strobe modes removed there is less that 70% of the memory used so plenty of room for customization.

I just received a XP-E 20mm alu version of this zoomie. Shelf is semi-hollow, with ~7mm dia opening right in the center. Strangely, I almost kill my emitter even at 1.9~2A.

Finishing is average like Ultrafire F13. Light is not really usable in stock form imo.

Skilhunt has an XML color headlamp, that is out now.

They contacted me to review it, and I’m finishing it up. Should have the video review up in about two days.

RGBW lamps are hot at the moment, not sure why but they are a lot of fun :-)

… looking forward to this colorful review!

Does it have a solid pill of hollow pill?

The regular reflector has a solid pill. The zoomie appears to have a hole below the led star.
