Ok I still didn't get my questions answered. Do you sell these lights are would you build a guy one? If no, I understand. Just curious.
Nice beamshots, nice 3 x MC-E too. Quite noticeable donut though. Surprised that the 5 x Q5 did not throw as well....you got the more recent versions? (only the first batch was driven aggressively)
For those who wants to buy the 100mm diameter 3 x MC-E, can try PAlight BG-03 and XTAR D31 howitzer. Expensive though.
Sorry, but this is a hobby for me and I do not want to sell or build more.
Yeah, it would be better with xm-l -or a better reflector- but when I made this light, there was not yet only mc-e. It's a DX triple reflector SKU 11922.
My tr-1200 with 2 cells goes 2.5 ampere, it's ~ 15W or more.
Earlier I made ceiling bounce test, and tr-1200 performed "35" relative value, and the C8 clone xm-l's score was "40" at 3.5A. The throw capability is almost the same for the tr-1200 and C8 clone.
Well if you change your mind let me know. I would pay for a light like that if it is reasonable.
hi! viffer750, Could you show a picture of this flashlight? xr-e 3x 44mm lens (I'm impressed).
thanks.
+1
as you wish
and spot size and intensity

C8 clone xm-l 3.5A

xm-l 4A 52mm lens
xr-e 1.5A 44mm lens
3x xr-e 3x 44mm lens
Your triple Q2 aspheric seems to be able to comfortably outgun the SR90. Do you have access to a lux meter?
Yes, I have a cheap one from ebay, lx1010bs. I don't know how accurate this. I think it measures higher value than the real (20-30%). I have only relative peak lux values from 3 meters.
x2000 Q5 1.3A ~ 2300
C8 clone xm-l 3.5A ~ 4300
TR-1200 ~ 4300
xm-l 52mm lens ~ 8000
xr-e 1.5A 44mm lens ~ 9200
3x xr-e 44mm lens ~ 24000
Any info is better than no info. BTW do you mind measuring from say at least 10m, preferably 15-20m? What i am trying to do is to let the beam focus and smooth out, when you are farther out the hotspot peak intensity will be easier to get hold of and not only stay at a small place (it smooths out so to speak). Also the meter sensor will not get overloaded, as you can see 24k is too much. Forget about the specs - most guys in the hobby know about the characteristics.
C8 XM-L @ 3.5 is pretty well known. XR-E @ 1.5A with a 44mm aspheric is also guessable. Yours is high but we still can make corrections and give educated somewhat accurate guesses and be around in ballpark.
Your XR-E @ 1.5A with 44mm is probably 55k region in true life (i am expecting decent heatsinking but not excellent, so you get around 1.1A-1.2A true relative performance unless you directly mount to pill). Triple XR-E aspheric is 2.6X, so you get 143k. Could be slightly higher than Olight SR90.
okay, from 10m as I saw:
x2000 ~200 @1m -30%= 14000lux
c8 and tr-1200 both ~370 @1m -30%= 25900lux
xr-e with 44mm lens ~810 @1m -30%= 56700lux
3x xr-e 44mm lens ~2100 @1m -30%= 147000lux
It's almost the same as from 3m.
These estimated values are acceptable?
Hi, viffer750.
You got a really nice collection.
Would it be possible to show us how did you mounted the 3*xr-e?
I would like to see it and know the distance between the dies, as I cannot figure it out.
The only multi-die I had seen with Aspheric lens are some MC-E which show clearly 4- dies on the wall, but it is not the case in your pictures.
3 xr-e 44mm Very nice model.
Hi,
here is the solution:
hard to find the right focal point of the lenses, but much more harder focusing the 3 beams into one point, it's a nightmare. :)
Because the lenses are put to the head, it can be fine-tune the beams, when you rotate the head:
Haha Iove that futuristic effect.
Just one more question, is each of the three lenses 44mm? If so, what is the head diameter?
Yes 44mm. But it had to grind the side of the lenses, because the head is only 82mm.

But be careful. I got in my first order almost perfect lenses, but some months later I got totally garbage lenses.
here is the body:
The 109-led host is an excellent choice for a monster thrower as well.
A single, large projector lens from an automotive HID kit fits nicely in the bezel.
IIRC, the first DEFT was a similar setup.
That is impressive and inventive! :)
I am waiting for some new flashlights, so I should stop buying a bit till next month at least haha, but I would love to do something similar.
The best zooming I've got now is the Yezl T9 with the Ultrok x2000 big head lens (which is better than the original in the yezl), but this one looks like is far better than that in a bigger host.
Another question would be the battery/es you are using, it could be nice to do it with an 26650, which I guess could fit.
